They Remastered Oblivion BUT Missed This HUGE Feature

After much anticipation due to leaks and speculation, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been released at last! Although the visuals and certain game mechanics have been upgraded, it’s unfortunate that the developers didn’t incorporate the option for dual-wielding weapons in this updated version.

Many characters throughout history have been known for their fierce prowess, often mastering the art of wielding two weapons simultaneously – such as Legolas, Kratos, Leonardo, Ahsoka Tano, and most of my character creations in Skyrim (although not all of them were quite so adept).

Even though I’m patiently waiting for Bethesda to stop hiding it and reveal the long-awaited Oblivion Remastered, I had dreams that I’d at last be able to play as my uniquely crafted stealth archer wielding a sword in one hand and a dagger in the other.

Regrettably, although Oblivion Remastered significantly enhances the original game in nearly all aspects, it’s quite disheartening that they didn’t include a wider variety of combat options, such as the ability to wield two weapons simultaneously.

With one hand dangling loosely at my side, I’m swiping at rodents and bones in this battle. Could you please provide me with another blade to wield, thus doubling the damage I deal?

Why can’t you dual wield in Oblivion Remastered?

In Oblivion Remastered, there’s a straightforward explanation as to why you can’t dual wield weapons – it wasn’t an option in the original version of the game either.

The alterations made have been substantial, yet introducing a feature that allows characters to wield two weapons simultaneously would’ve necessitated developing fresh animations and adjusting weapon balances for both one-handed and dual-wielding scenarios. Though I understand the reasoning behind this decision, it’s unfortunate nonetheless.

Regardless of your ethnicity, the most you can achieve is wielding a sword and a shield concurrently, however, for your main weapon, you can utilize just one at a time.

In Skyrim, magic works by allowing you to wield spells in both hands, such as holding a sword in one hand and casting a Fireball with the other or combining two different spells. However, in Oblivion Remastered, you’re only able to equip a primary weapon, and to cast spells, you simply press RB/R1/C after selecting your desired spell, while your off-hand essentially remains idle.

Even though Oblivion Remastered doesn’t currently have an official mod support system, creative modders are still finding ways to contribute, suggesting that the option for dual-wielding could potentially be introduced via a mod in the near future.
