„They congratulate me, and I feel like a total fraud.” Daredevil actor explains why he feels bad accepting praise for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

The debut game from Sandfall Interactive, titled Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, was an unprecedented triumph. This enchanting production, which drew in millions of gamers, managed to sell a staggering 3.3 million copies just one month after its launch – an impressive feat, especially given that it’s accessible via Xbox/PC Game Pass. Consequently, it comes as no surprise that both the developers and the voice actors who helped bring it to life are being lauded for their outstanding contributions.

It appears that Charlie Cox, famous for his role as Daredevil in Marvel series, voiced Gustav. At the Summer Con 2025 event, he confessed that he felt uneasy and falsely praised when receiving compliments from fans about his work on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

It’s not unexpected that Gustave didn’t invest much time into the actual production since he’s not the main character in the title, and actors often put more effort into leading roles in high-budget games. Interestingly, Charlie Cox mentioned that he isn’t a gamer, which could make it challenging for him to grasp the game’s appeal given the minimal time he spent on it.

Charlie Cox stated, “Although I’m not trying to undermine its greatness at all, it seems the game is terrific. Being a non-gamer, I haven’t played it myself. My representative asked if I wanted to record a voiceover for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. For about four hours, perhaps, I was in a studio. However, with people continually praising its brilliance and offering congratulations, I feel like a complete imposter.

Expedition 33. Despite its widespread acclaim, the game’s creators prefer to maintain a compact, united team rather than embarking on numerous large-scale projects simultaneously.
