This month saw the release of Doom: The Dark Ages, and if you’ve already completed the Doom Slayer’s journey through Hell and a strange cosmic realm, don’t put away your ripping and tearing gear just yet! Bethesda and Kramer Guitars have collaborated to produce three guitars inspired by the game, and they’re as flashy and intense as the Slayer. However, landing one of these will require a bit of good fortune on your side.
As a devoted fan, I’ve recently come across three striking guitars that seem tailor-made for a diehard like me. These bad boys, adorned with various Doom-inspired visuals, appear to share the same functional attributes but each has its unique charm. They are none other than classic Kramer models, instantly recognizable by their Floyd Rose bridges and single humbuckers.
In the ’80s, Kramer was a household name among shredders for its axes that danced on the edge of what was possible. The aesthetic of these guitars aligns perfectly with a game as brutal and over-the-top as Doom, making them an absolute headbanger’s delight!
Luke Preece, known for his work on Gears of War: E-Day and art for musical groups such as blink-182 and Metallica, meticulously crafted the distinctive designs over several weeks using multiple coats of paint. Each design highlights one potent weapon from your collection: Atlan, Serrat the Dragon, and the Doom Slayer himself.
Here comes the bittersweet news: These guitars aren’t for sale. Instead, Xbox is planning to give them away through their Instagram accounts. Residents from the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands have a chance to win these guitars. Additionally, you could also win a copy of Doom: The Dark Ages, the game’s collector’s edition, or special-edition Xbox controllers.
In a review for Doom: The Dark Ages, Alessandro Barbosa praised it as an expertly fine-tuned adventure that offers the thrill of tearing through hordes of demons with raw power, while maintaining a depth that keeps each encounter enthralling. If you’re interested in Kramer Guitars, unfortunately, Sweetwater has discontinued the unusual hot dog-shaped model they were previously selling.
