As a seasoned Angeleno and a devotee of all things cinematic, I must confess that the reunion panel for “You’re the Worst” at Vulture Fest 2024 was an absolute hoot! The show’s creator, Stephen Falk, along with stars Aya Cash, Kether Donohue, and Desmin Borges, dished out some hilarious anecdotes about their experiences in Tinseltown.

The TV series “You’re the Worst” is all about Los Angeles, down to every detail. In one of their signature “Sunday Funday” episodes, they even named almost every bar in East Hollywood, Los Feliz, and Silver Lake, from 4100 to Ye Rustic. And what does L.A. have more than any other city? Celebrities! (Not to mention an abundance of medical spas.) Creator Stephen Falk and stars Aya Cash, Kether Donohue, and Desmin Borges recently chatted with Vulture’s Jen Chaney. The reunion panel for “You’re the Worst” was filled with laughter, tears (Desmin Borges cried during Edgar’s PTSD storyline), but mostly it was a lot of humorous comments about famous people. Here is a complete list of everyone who found themselves in the spotlight at Vulture Fest 2024:

Dane Cook

Stephen Falk admitted to being apprehensive about including Desmin Borges in the series due to his previous role alongside Dane Cook on another project which didn’t turn out well. However, he later clarified that it was actually Dane Cook who brought misfortune, not Borges.

Borges referred to Cook as “the individual who arrived two-and-a-half hours late to our reading event at Wendy O’Brien’s office due to a flat tire on his motorcycle and apparently lacking an alternative means of transport.

Moby

Stephen Falk stated, “Regarding Moby, let me just say he’s the most well-known individual I can think of, who some of the girls I know have kissed and later felt regretful about.

Travis Barker

It seems Travis Barker had been scheduled for the show, but Aya Cash mentioned that he ended up not being there when we actually filmed it.

Hollywood Press

“You play these stupid press games,” Cash also said. “I don’t know, our business is stupid …”

How I Met Your Mother

Stephen Falk expressed that repeating the episodes felt a bit contrived, similar to Slapsgiving or other recurring events. He clarified that this isn’t a criticism, but rather acknowledging that it serves as easy entertainment for the audience.

TV Writers

Television’s grand illusion is that writers always have a predetermined ending and they can pinpoint the perfect dramatic moment,” Falk confessed. “But in reality, it’s all nonsense, pure nonsense.

Zach Braff

When the idea arose that You’re the Worst might crowdfund the production of a sequel film similar to Sex And the City, Falk expressed reluctance: “Then we’d be like Zach Braff’s movie that no one saw? No. No, FX should cover the costs for it themselves.
