The Witchbrook release date was finally revealed at today’s Nintendo Direct. Get ready to become a real wizard or witch this winter

I’m thrilled beyond words to pass on fantastic news about Witchbrook, a game we’ve been eagerly anticipating since its announcement in 2017. It’s been quite a wait with minimal updates over the past year, but there’s been no “releasing soon” confirmation – just that enigmatic phrase on Steam. However, thanks to Nintendo Direct, we now have an estimated release window – Witchbrook is set to arrive during Holiday 2025. Seems like my holiday plans for the end of December are all sorted!

A magical academy adventure awaits

The game titled “Witchbrook” is set to release on Nintendo Switch (possibly also on Switch 2) towards the end of this year. It’s anticipated that it will debut on PC simultaneously. At this point, we’re unsure about its release on other consoles.

Time is running short before we embark on our school year at a magical academy in Mossport. We’ll be concocting potent potions, striving for the highest grades, and participating in secretive ceremonies – there’s much excitement ahead! And let’s not forget the array of eccentric, vibrant personalities we’ll encounter, who knows, maybe some will capture our hearts.

Our abode will be a charming little wooden house nestled in a forest, complete with its own garden. We plan to establish a venture that assists the local community and funds our education using the income generated from it. The game offers an enjoyable multiplayer experience, accommodating up to four players for some delightful cooperative play online.

I’m quite optimistic that Witchbrook won’t follow in the footsteps of other games like Sand or Vampire: Bloodlines 2, which have been repeatedly delayed and are now scheduled for October 2025 and 2026 respectively. Fable is also looking at a 2026 release, and even the Hobbit game has been postponed from its initial launch in March. So, if you were hoping to enjoy Witchbrook in May, it might be best to keep your fingers crossed for an on-time release.
