As a longtime aficionado of cinema and music, hailing from the era of vinyl records and film reels, I find myself thoroughly intrigued by the impending release of “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” The synergy between art forms, as embodied by The Weeknd’s trilogy, is nothing short of revolutionary.

On May 16, the much-anticipated movie “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” starring The Weeknd along with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, will make its theatrical premiere.

Under the direction of Trey Edward Shults (“Waves”), who’s also known for his work, and brought to you by Lionsgate, this unique film is musically influenced by and showcases tunes from The Weeknd. It’s been labeled as a groundbreaking theatrical event.

Tomorrow brings the conclusion of The Weeknd’s artistic trilogy with ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, following ‘After Hours’ in 2020 and ‘Dawn FM’ in 2022. Not only is this the title of his upcoming album, but also the name of his upcoming tour and concert. The album ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ will be released on January 24th, and the following day, The Weeknd will give a one-time performance at the Rose Bowl.

Tomorrow,” a song released under The Weeknd’s Manic Phase label in collaboration with Reza Fahim, was also produced by the late Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss. This production is overseen by Ortega, Shults, Michael Rapino, Ryan Kroft, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, and Harrison Huffman in an executive capacity.

Chayse Irvin takes on the role as the cinematographer, while Erin Benach and Hannah Jacobs handle the costumes, and Elliott Hostetter oversees the production design.

Abel Tesfaye, also known as The Weeknd, has achieved significant success with hits like “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears.” He’s sold over 75 million records worldwide, earning four Grammy Awards, and was the most streamed male artist on Spotify in 2024. In the year prior, he teamed up with Sam Levinson, creator of “Euphoria,” to produce the HBO series “The Idol.” In this series, The Weeknd portrayed a cunning music tycoon who gains influence over Lily-Rose Depp’s character, Jocelyn, a struggling pop star.
