ABC News is extending its break to savor “The View” a bit longer. The popular daytime talk show is preparing for its weekend debut on January 11, with the new edition titled “The Weekend View.” This half-hour segment will stream on ABC News Live and will include the show’s Friday panel, consisting of moderator Joy Behar, as well as co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.

Starting this weekend, ABC News Live will air a new show called ‘The Weekend View’ every Saturday at 7:30 a.m. The show will continue to run throughout the weekend. One of its highlights is an extended segment on ‘Hot Topics,’ which is recorded on Friday after the regular broadcast of ‘The View.’ Additionally, the show will incorporate clips from the companion podcast, ‘Behind the Table,’ where executive producer Brian Teta and ‘The View’ co-hosts discuss the week’s most popular pop-culture news.

As a devoted movie critic, I am thrilled to announce that we’re expanding our dialogue with viewers through a new venture, “Weekend View.” This extension isn’t just about filling space; it’s about deepening the bond our audience has forged with the show. We believe that this additional offering, combined with our existing podcasting efforts, represents the next chapter in our storytelling journey. Essentially, “Weekend View” signifies a fresh frontier where we can continue to engage and captivate our audience in new and innovative ways.

On weekends, ‘The View’ team, which includes executive producer Teta, Robin Hommel, and director Sarah de la O, will be responsible for creating the show.

Apart from experiencing its highest-rated linear season in four years, ‘The View’ is thriving by delivering content to viewers in various locations such as podcasts, YouTube, and now, offering unique, weekend-exclusive streaming content on ABC News Live. This was shared by Teta.

Regarding the content blend on the upcoming half-hour, Gilford stated that “The Weekend View” will have less focus on politics compared to its weekday counterpart, “The View.” This approach mirrors other weekend programming from ABC News Live, such as “GMA Life,” which has a more lifestyle-oriented slant, being an adapted version of the weekend edition of “Good Morning America.

She mentioned they’re adopting strategies that have proven effective on ABC News Live during weekends. On Saturdays and Sundays, the approach is somewhat lighter in mood. They’ll still discuss all the week’s events, but with a slightly different vibe. The format of the show remains the same, but they’ll delve deeper into pop culture on weekends. In other words, they’ll continue to tackle hot topics, but with a stronger focus on popular culture during the weekend.

She mentioned that people tend to enjoy listening to the hosts’ insights on various subjects. Moreover, weekends are typically a time for relaxation. Therefore, it offers a chance to spotlight some of the topics discussed during the week, which might not fall under the political spectrum.

For the debut, RoC Skincare became the exclusive backer of “The Weekend View”, which is a first for ABC News Live in securing an all-encompassing brand partnership.

Gilford expressed that it’s exceptionally creative to find methods to involve advertisers who are enthusiastic about the content we produce. He suggests leveraging popular shows, well-known personalities, and their unique perspectives, while providing audiences with increased access to these talents in places and formats that excite them.

In addition to “The Weekend View” being broadcast on ABC News Live (accessible through Disney+, Hulu, YouTube, ABCNews.com, the ABC News and ABC News Live apps, and various other channels), it will stream on the streaming channels of ABC-owned television stations. It’s possible that this program may also become available on additional platforms in the future, as suggested by Gilford.

She mentioned they will initially focus on streaming, but they’re also considering the broader context. This involves deciding the best approach for distributing content on Video-on-Demand platforms, and selecting suitable ones. Additionally, they plan to strategically break down and share their content effectively across social media based on user preferences. Expect to see more of this approach from them in the coming year.

In addition to “The Weekend View” and “GMA Life,” you can also find other live programs on ABC News, such as “Prime with Linsey Davis,” “Special Reports from ABC News Live,” “Early Updates from ABC News Live,” and “Weekend Edition from ABC News Live.
