‘The View’ Scored Its Highest Viewership in a Decade With Intense Post-Election Episode (EXCLUSIVE)

As a long-time fan of “The View,” I can confidently say that the show has been more captivating than ever before! The recent election results have undeniably sparked intense discussions and emotions among the hosts, making each episode a must-watch for viewers like me.

Last week, as a dedicated movie lover glued to my TV screen, I couldn’t help but notice the significant impact the election results had on “The View” hosts, and quite possibly its viewers too. It seemed like everyone was tuning in, eager to catch their daily dose from this popular daytime talk show. Interestingly, according to ABC’s analysis of Nielsen data, “The View” managed to secure its best week-long ratings in over three and a half years, averaging 3.078 million viewers. This made it the No. 1 show among daytime network talk and news shows. It was quite a spectacle to witness!

On Wednesday, November 6th, the day following the election, “The View” drew in a record-breaking audience of 4.47 million viewers, marking its highest viewed episode since Barbara Walters’ farewell show on May 16, 2014.

In my cinema of life, I found myself deeply moved by an episode on “The View,” where our esteemed hosts – Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, and Alyssa Farah Griffin – shared their reactions to the unexpected turn of events in the 2024 presidential election. Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris left a sense of unease and worry permeating the set. Sunny Hostin, expressing her feelings, confessed that she was “profoundly disturbed” by the news.

This morning’s The New York Times headline read, ‘America Faces a Critical Decision.’ In 2016, we were uncertain about what a Trump administration would bring. Now, we’ve seen. We’ve seen that he will hold almost unrestricted authority,” she asserted.

During the week of November 4th, “The View” secured the top position in household ratings (with a 2.07 rating). Additionally, it attracted an average of 270,000 women between the ages of 25 and 54, and 193,000 women aged 18-49, as per Nielsen’s live+same day data.

The show outperformed NBC’s “Today Third Hour” (rating of 1.30 in households with 1,926,000 viewers), “Today with Hoda & Jenna” (rating of 0.90 in households with 1,284,000 viewers), “NBC News Daily” (rating of 0.84 with 1,222,000 viewers), and CBS’s “The Talk” (rating of 0.87 in households with 1,293,000 viewers) both in homes and total viewership.

On a weekly basis, “The View” saw an increase of 14% in its overall viewership (3.078 million compared to 2.689 million). The program also experienced a surge of 21% among women aged 25-54 (270,000 versus 158,000), and a rise of 22% among women between the ages of 18 and 49. For the second consecutive week, “The View” reached new season highs.
