The Ultimate Doom has finally recreated The Fantastic Four, over and over and over again for its .
A sneak peek at Marvel’s The Ultimates #17 (from Deniz Camp, Phil Noto, and Travis Lanham) shows Doom observing footage of the life he could have had. He then focuses on trying to recreate those events. Although the original Reed Richards missed his chance to fulfill his potential, a new Fantastic Four can still rise. Doom has compensated for lost time, now commanding a team of nearly two dozen heroes, each with extraordinary abilities.

The Ultimate Doom first appeared in the 2023 comic Ultimate Invasion #2, created by Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch. He originated as Reed Richards from Earth-6160. Unlike the Reed Richards we know, this version made sure the Fantastic Four—like other potential threats—never formed. Instead of preventing his younger self from gaining powers, the Maker (this world’s Reed Richards) captured and tortured him, ultimately transforming him into Doom.
Since then, the Ultimate Doom has dedicated himself to defeating the Maker, even teaming up with a young Tony Stark to establish the Ultimates. Beyond developing the technology empowering new heroes globally, Reed Richards has largely planned for the Maker’s eventual return. The team has faced numerous challenges along the way, some of which ultimately led to the formation of The Fantastic Four.
The Ultimate Universe Is Ending Soon
Fans of the Ultimate Universe line have just a few months left to enjoy the current series before it ends. Starting with the finale of Ultimate Spider-Man in December, all the titles will conclude. Deniz Camp, a writer and key creator of the Ultimate Universe, described the ending as a moving and significant event, bringing together storylines from all the different books. He promised a large-scale, emotional conclusion with major consequences, including character deaths.
The Ultimates #17 goes on sale October 22 from Marvel Comics.
