Consequently, many are embarking on its exhilarating faction side quests without any prior knowledge, and some can prove challenging if you’re not aware of the situation. In this tutorial, we aim to assist you in wrapping up the mission known as “The Ultimate Heist”, which serves as the climax of the engaging Thieves Guild storyline.

To embark on your adventure, you’ll initially need to have illegally traded and profited from a total of 1,000 Septims’ worth of goods at the Thieves Guild’s pawn shops. After achieving that goal, you can initiate “The Grand Heist” by conversing with Amusei.

In approximately 24 hours, he will come forward to you, mentioning that the Gray Fox has requested a meeting at Othrelo’s residence. If you make this a current quest, it will appear on your map. It is located in the Imperial City Elven Gardens district.

Make your way over there to kick off the adventure, involving a truly audacious heist – the objective is to snatch an authentic Elder Scroll. The character will equip you with necessary items such as the Arrow of Extrication and the Boots of Springheel Jak for this mission.

It’s important to mention that he will not seek revenge or punishment (blood price) for any lives taken during this operation. If you have a penchant for violence, you are given the liberty to act accordingly. Currently, make your way towards the Imperial Palace, and discreetly navigate your path down to its underground level. You’ll find it’s clearly indicated on your map and compass, so navigation should be a breeze. Once you reach the sealed doorway, you’ll need to find a way to pass through it in order to continue.

Upon entering, quietly bypass the guard circling the chamber and locate the “Hourglass of Time” indicated by your quest symbol. This large hourglass stands in a corner. Just approach it, interact with it, and then exit the basement.

Performing the action indicated, you’ll get a message saying the “Old Way” has been reopened. Your upcoming destination is the “Imperial Sewers“.

Instead of returning to the sewers where your adventure began, you’ll find yourself heading towards the lush greenery of the Imperial City Arboretum. The quest guide will direct you to a grate that serves as an entrance, leading you into the South East Tunnel.

Make your way along the relatively straightforward sewer passages until you find the entrance to the region called “Under the Bloodworks”. Following the quest icon, you’ll encounter numerous vampires and other undead adversaries on your journey.

Take care when interacting with them, as there’s a chance you could unknowingly catch the vampirism illness. You’ll eventually come across a manhole that leads to the underground sewer system known as the Palace Sewers. Keep going in the direction indicated by the green quest marker until you stumble upon an unusual door that opens onto The Old Way.

As you’ve been, just carry on with the journey guided by the quest icon. The path is quite clear, so navigation won’t be an issue. However, do watch out for the undead lurking in these parts.

Eventually, you’ll come across a door leading to the enigmatic catacombs known as the “Lost Catacombs”. Once you navigate through the decaying corridors and emerge into a vast, spotless passageway that seems more modern than earlier areas, remember to don the “Boots of Springheel Jak” for your journey ahead.

As I strap on the Boots of Springheel Jak, my agility surges, making me nimble enough to traverse even the highest floors with ease. It’s time to push the blocks at the far corners of this room. A quick shove should trigger a mechanism and unlock the eastern door, which has been stubbornly locked until now.

In the adjoining chamber, there’s a massive statue situated in one area near the eastern corner. Remember this location as it’s important for later. For now, make your way up the stairs and proceed towards the south, where you’ll encounter a sturdy locked gate.

Immediately upon unlocking the gate, head towards your left to discover another “Press Block.” Give it a push to unveil the route to your upcoming goal within this space. Then, continue down the stairs and navigate yourself towards the south direction.

Ultimately, you’ll arrive at a place known as the “Hall of Epochs.” Once there, take the staircase directly in front of you, which points north. After that, continue descending the stairs located at the opposite end of the room you’ve just exited.

Following this, you’ll discover another “Push Block” situated slightly behind a modest chest on an altar. Give it a good push and follow your path back to the initial room where the colossal statue stands.

Upon your return, you’ll discover a pressure plate situated among some radiant crystals on the second floor. Interacting with this plate will provide an update to your quest, designating this location as the spot. Stepping onto it triggers the giant statue to rotate and face you. Subsequently, the statue uncovers a compartment.

According to the mission goal, aim the ‘Release Arrow’ at the crystal housed within the container. You’re given just a single try, but if you miss, you can retrieve the arrow again. It’s recommended that you save your game beforehand.

In case you forgot your bow, you’ll find alternatives here. Feel free to acquire one by defeating the skeletons in this chamber. If it becomes necessary, seize their weapons for your use. Don’t forget to gather some arrows as well, so you can practice and ensure accuracy.

Strive for great precision when shooting an arrow at the target, as the shot is quite far and requires significant adjustments to make it count. This won’t be difficult if you’re accustomed to handling bows.

As I triumph, a new quest pops up, hinting at my discovery of a hidden passage concealed beneath the statue. With each victory, these surrounding statues seem to awaken and pulse with energy.

Approach these potentially dangerous beings stealthily to keep your distance, unless you’re certain of your skills to tackle them. There’s a slim possibility that they might malfunction and pursue you while frozen in their harmless statues, allowing you to disregard them entirely if encountered.

Slip into the hidden access of the Imperial Guard Quarters. After that, keep an eye on the mission indicators until you get to the Elder Scroll Archive. Make sure to steer clear of guards as you follow the path marked by the quest markers.

Over time, you’ll notice individuals dressed in white robes who are indeed blind. If you’ve played Skyrim previously, this might not be new information to you. In the library, tug on the lever to unveil the path ahead.

Later, you’ll come across a comfortable chair for reading purposes. In order to receive further guidance, be prepared to merely wait until someone delivers the scroll to you. It is advisable not to engage in conversation with any of them, as they believe you are someone else.

After receiving the Elder Scroll, you’ve been given a new mission: slip out using an alternate exit since your original entry point is now inaccessible. As you navigate through, be cautious as you encounter monks and guards on your journey upwards.

As I journey through this game world, I’ll eventually find myself at the Moth Priest’s private chambers. I’ve got to be sneaky here, avoiding all the oblivious NPCs that seem to be everywhere. My goal is to reach the Imperial Battlemage’s quarters next. Once there, I’ll need to tiptoe into the central room, where a challenging lock awaits on either door.

After the mage exits from within, proceed to enter through the “Loose Grate to The Old Way” hidden in the fireplace. This opening leads to a significant drop. If you’re wearing the “Boots of Springheel Jak”, you’ll be safe; if not, put them on before you reach the bottom to ensure a smooth landing!

Moving forward, your mission is to leave the sewers and return to the Elven Gardens District within the Imperial City. Once there, deliver the Elder Scroll to the Gray Fox. In exchange, he’ll assign you one more task before rewarding you.

Hand over the ring that he provides you to the Countess Millona Umbranox of Anvil. This act will trigger a short scene, and you’ll find yourself leading the Thieves Guild as its new head.

Here’s your prize: The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal! This accessory not only enhances your abilities in stealth and burglary but also transforms you into the elusive Gray Fox temporarily. While donning this item, you’ll carry a distinctive bounty associated with the Gray Fox.

Wearing this item allows you to perform criminal actions, but once taken off, your previous reputation (bounty and infamy) returns. So, be aware that wearing it publicly could make you a constant target of law enforcement, so use it cautiously.

With this information, you should be able to finish the extensive quest that marks the end of one of the more engaging side stories in the game. Now that you hold the position of Thieves Guild leader, independent thieving tasks are no longer necessary for you!
