‘The Traitors’ Renewed for Two More Seasons at Peacock; Alan Cumming Continues as Host

As a fan who has followed Alan Cumming‘s career since his days as Eli Gold on “The Good Wife,” I can confidently say that his role as the host of “The Traitors” is nothing short of extraordinary. The man is a chameleon, effortlessly slipping into characters that are both captivating and unforgettable.

As a movie enthusiast, I can confidently say that Peacock has truly stayed true to “The Traitors” as its Emmy-winning competition series has been renewed for two more seasons, which was announced bright and early on a Wednesday morning. And it’s great news because our beloved host, Alan Cumming, will once again grace us with his presence in Seasons 4 and 5.

I’m thrilled to share that the news arrives as production wraps up on Season 3 of “The Traitors,” an exciting moment made even more significant by the fact that our second season is currently vying for four Emmys! The categories include ‘Outstanding Reality Competition Program,’ ‘Outstanding Directing for a Reality Series,’ ‘Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Series,’ and ‘Alan Cumming’s outstanding performance as host in a reality or reality competition program.’ Here’s to hoping we bring home the awards!

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share that Season 2 of this show truly shone at the TCA Awards, earning outstanding recognition for its reality content. Interestingly, it also became the most-watched unscripted series in the U.S. among all streaming platforms during its premiere week, as reported by Nielsen.

In a recent episode of EbMaster’s Awards Circuit Podcast, Alan Cumming talked about the eccentric character “Alan Cumming” he portrays on the show, as well as the influence he hopes his wardrobe in “The Traitors” will have on society. He also mentioned a spooky scene involving “Alan” and his trustworthy assistant “Fergus,” which unfortunately didn’t make it into Season 2.

In a conversation with EbMaster, Cumming shared that he’s thoroughly enjoying his role as the host of “The Traitors,” as it provides him an opportunity to deliver grand, extravagant speeches and inject some improvisation into his interactions with the contestants.

“He expresses his enthusiasm for the role, stating, ‘Savoring the surroundings’ is what I truly enjoy about it. It offers a unique blend of spontaneity and grand performances – the improvisation in the moment contrasted with the larger-than-life set pieces. I can’t help but adore this show! It’s an unexpected challenge for me, coming at this stage in my career. For me as a performer, it’s intriguing to twist the concept of a host. Although I’m hosting the show, I’m also playing a character. I’ve hosted documentaries and other programs before, but nothing like this. This character is quite distinct from who I am in reality.'”

The inaugural season of “The Traitors” was awarded an Emmy for its exceptional casting, and currently, both seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Peacock. Regarding the upcoming third season, “The Traitors” will debut early next year, featuring a fresh group of 21 contestants.

Bob Harper (“The Biggest Loser”), Bob The Drag Queen (“RuPaul’s Drag Race”), Britney Haynes (“Big Brother”), Carolyn Wiger (“Survivor”), Chanel Ayan (“The Real Housewives of Dubai”), Chrishell Stause (“Selling Sunset”), Ciara Miller (“Summer House”), Danielle Reyes (“Big Brother”), Dolores Catania (“The Real Housewives of New Jersey”), Dorinda Medley (“The Real Housewives of New York City”), Dylan Efron (“Down to Earth with Zac Efron”), Gabby Windey (“The Bachelorette”), Jeremy Collins (“Survivor”), Lord Ivar Mountbatten (British Royal), Nikki Garcia (WWE Hall of Famer), Rob Mariano (“Survivor,” “Deal or No Deal Island”), Robyn Dixon (“The Real Housewives of Potomac”), Sam Asghari (Actor & Model), Tom Sandoval (“Vanderpump Rules”), Tony Vlachos (“Survivor”) and Wells Adams (“Bachelor in Paradise”).
