Blair recently told ComingSoon that his vision for *The Toxic Avenger* focuses on a playful, slightly immature sense of humor balanced with genuine heart. He wanted the violence to be over-the-top and cartoonish, and the world itself to feel dirty and gritty. He believes this combination of elements – the humor, the sweetness, the violence, and the atmosphere – is what made the original films so unique, regardless of the specific plot or character arcs.
Kevin Bacon explained to ComingSoon that when the script came to him, his main goal was to satisfy existing fans of the original *Troma* films while also creating something that would appeal to modern audiences. He wanted to stay true to the over-the-top craziness of the originals, but with a more updated feel. He believes the writer did a great job achieving that balance.
