In the video, you can hear a familiar, whimsical sound effect reminiscent of classic Nintendo designs, and some people even liken it to the unique sounds made by Mii characters. This sound has sparked fresh discussion about the button’s purpose, with fans speculating that “C” might signify “connect” or “community,” implying that this button could offer social features on the console.
One frequently suggested theory is that the C button functions as a capture button, with the audio in the video being Nintendo’s interpretation of a screenshot sound effect. Another intriguing possibility aligns with ongoing speculation about the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons potentially having mouse capabilities. In such a case, the C button might be used to switch the input mode for these Joy-Cons.
The unique teaser Nintendo provided for the mysterious C button has only heightened our curiosity, and soon, during the Switch 2 Direct on Wednesday, April 2 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET, we’ll finally know its true function for certain.
