The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Hits Theaters In Spring 2026, Chris Pratt Returning As Mario

The follow-up to the Super Mario Bros. Movie is scheduled for a 2026 release, and Nintendo recently provided additional information about it during their latest Nintendo Direct event. Titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, this movie is set to hit theaters on April 3, 2026. According to producer Chris Meledandri, this film takes inspiration from the Super Mario Galaxy series but promises to engage fans of all Mario games.

Not long after, it was announced that a sequel would be forthcoming on March 10, 2024 – celebrating Mario Day. Alongside this announcement, Nintendo, Universal, and Illumination revealed a release date for the sequel on April 3, 2026, marking nearly three years since the debut of the first movie.

In 2025, we’ll be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic Super Mario Bros. series, and Nintendo has plans to bring back the beloved games Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Nintendo Switch 2.
