
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is goomba-stomping the competition at the box office.
Illumination’s latest animated film continues the story of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, bringing back Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser. This time, they’re joined by popular characters like Yoshi (voiced by Donald Glover), Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie), and Princess Rosalina (Brie Larson), plus Fox McCloud from Star Fox (Glen Powell). The Super Mario Galaxy Movie premiered on Wednesday, giving it a strong start before the Easter weekend.
According to Variety, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” is expected to earn $372.5 million worldwide by the end of its opening weekend. In North America, it made $190 million over the five-day Easter holiday, with another $182.5 million coming from theaters internationally.
The 2026 film Super Mario Galaxy Movie quickly became one of the year’s biggest hits, earning $372.5 million and securing the No. 3 spot among worldwide top-grossing movies. It trails behind Project Hail Mary ($400 million) and the Chinese film Pegasus 3 ($609.1 million).
