Happinet has revealed that they will unveil Ikina Games’ title, “The Starbites – Taste of Desert,” in Japan for both PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch on October 16. In Japan, this South Korean dystopian mecha RPG will be referred to as simply “Starbites.
To clarify, this game was initially unveiled during the Tokyo Game Show 2024 Xbox showcase. Apart from the Xbox Series X|S, it’s also planned for release on PC and PS5. However, a recent announcement by Happinet in Japan only confirmed launches for the PS5 and Switch. It is yet to be determined if the newly announced Switch version will be included in the future global English release as well.
In addition to detailing the pilot abilities and four-segment mechanical modifications in Starbites, the Japanese press release delved into the specifics of the game’s combat system as well.
- Break – Enemies in this game will have an elemental weakness, and depleting their barriers with the said element will cause them to Break and make them immobile for several turns.
- Supporter – Supporter characters can be set to each main party member. The former will provide additional attacks whenever an enemy goes into a Break.
- Driver’s High – A feature triggerable with the DH gauge, which fills from dealing and receiving damage. This will give various benefits to the user, such as moving first during the turn and improved skill effects.
