Electronic Arts is shutting down the servers for The Sims Mobile. After seven years and more than 50 updates, the game will no longer be playable starting January 20, 2026.
The game will become completely unplayable at 1:59 PM UTC. Since there’s no way to play offline, once that time arrives, it will be gone permanently.
The team behind The Sims Mobile is incredibly impressed by the creativity, kindness, and imagination shown by our players and the entire Sims community. We’ve been so inspired by your stories, the homes you build, and the Sims you create, and we’re grateful to have been a part of this experience with you.
Before The Sims Mobile officially shuts down in January 2026, EA is hosting several events. You can find a full list of these events on their website, as reported by PC Gamer.
Today, October 20th, The Sims Mobile has received its last update. This means players can no longer purchase any in-game packs or make real-money purchases. If you currently have SimCash, Simoleons, or Tickets, you can still use them until the game officially shuts down in January 2026. Any remaining currency after that date won’t be refunded.
As a Sims Mobile player, I was so excited to see the October 20 update! They finally added unlimited energy, which is a huge relief. It means we can actually play and make progress without constantly waiting for energy to recharge while the game is still running. It’s a game-changer!
The Sims Mobile will be removed from app stores on October 21st. But if you’ve already downloaded the game, you’ll still be able to play it until January 2026.
Electronic Arts announced that on January 6, 2026, all building and character customization options in The Sims Mobile will be made available to all players. According to the developer, this is to allow everyone to fully enjoy the game – building their ideal homes and creating unique Sims – before the game’s servers are shut down.
As a long-time gamer, it’s always a bummer when older games get shut down, and EA does this pretty often. But honestly, they didn’t even bother to explain why they’re taking The Sims Online offline in January 2026, which is super frustrating. What makes it even weirder is that this news came right after EA announced they were being bought for a whopping $55 billion by a group of investors, including Saudi Arabia. It just feels…off, you know?
Although The Sims Mobile is being discontinued, EA is still updating The Sims 4 with new content. However, because they’ve already released a lot of downloadable content for The Sims 4, they don’t have plans to create a new version, The Sims 5.
