‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Family Guy,’ ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Renewed for Four More Seasons, ‘American Dad’ Officially Returning to Fox

It’s been confirmed that “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” and “Bob’s Burgers” have all secured impressive four-season extensions at Fox. Moreover, “American Dad” will also be back on Fox, following the same pattern with a four-season deal.

Previously, it was announced in March that “American Dad” was close to re-signing with Fox, the channel where the show first premiered back in 2005. Since then, it has been airing on TBS, but will continue to do so until at least 2030, along with reruns on Adult Swim and TruTV, which are also owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.

As a passionate film aficionado, I’m thrilled to be part of this exciting new chapter in the timeless success of these beloved comedies. This partnership with 20th Television Animation and our talented colleagues – especially Seth, who’s been instrumental once again – along with the exceptional voice actors behind these modern masterpieces, continues to thrive and prosper. This deal is a testament to that enduring relationship.

The upcoming seasons for “Bob’s Burgers” will span from Season 16 to Season 19, “Family Guy” will continue up to Season 24 to Season 27, “American Dad” will progress through Seasons 20 to 23, and the next 10 seasons of “The Simpsons” (Seasons 37-40) are also confirmed.

Rob Wade, CEO of Fox Entertainment, stated that the durability of this contract underscores our dedication to the thriving partnership we’ve cultivated with Disney’s exceptional team. This alliance has and will persistently yield significant long-term benefits, while tactically expanding audiences from Fox, through Hulu, to fans globally.

20th Television Animation has secured a massive, multi-season agreement with Fox, ensuring stability for both parties. This deal, which spans over 16 seasons of television production, is quite significant in today’s Hollywood industry. It bolsters the continuity of Fox, a longstanding leader in broadcast animation, and strengthens their “Animation Domination” schedule up until the 2028-2029 broadcast season.

Disney+ and Hulu continue to be the sole platforms worldwide where you can stream all four animated series, boasting a combined total of more than 2000 episodes. In 2024, “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers” ranked as two of the most-watched titles on the Nielsen Top 10 list, amassing 42.44 billion and 36.79 billion minutes of viewing time each.

Marci Proietto, who heads 20th Television Animation, expressed excitement over a groundbreaking multi-season agreement with Fox. This deal is a significant milestone for these classic animated series. We are thrilled that these cherished programs will persist, producing numerous additional episodes. This means that both new and established fans can enjoy, revisit, and explore more of ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Family Guy,’ ‘American Dad,’ and ‘Bob’s Burgers’ for many years to come.

Among other animated shows that Fox airs, we have “Universal Basic Guys,” which is set for a second season, “Krapopolis,” confirmed up to the fourth season, and both “Grimsburg” and “The Great North,” waiting for news about upcoming seasons.

The Simpsons,” a production by Gracie Films in collaboration with 20th Television Animation, was created by Matt Groening and developed by James L. Brooks, Groening, and Sam Simon. Matt Selman serves as the showrunner, while Matt Groening and James L. Brooks continue to executive produce. On the other hand, Seth MacFarlane is both the creator and executive producer of “Family Guy.” Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin are executive producers and showrunners for this series.
