The Russo Brothers Reveal Major Doctor Doom Symbol Ahead Of Avengers: Doomsday Release

Avengers: Doomsday could rewrite the entirety of the MCU.

The Avengers movies are the most successful film series ever made, earning more than $7.7 billion worldwide. Avengers: Endgame, released in 2019, is the highest-earning film in the series and represented a significant turning point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after ten years of developing the now-iconic superhero team.

Filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo recently posted a striking image on Instagram that has Marvel fans buzzing. The image is the flag of Latveria, a fictional country in Marvel Comics governed by the supervillain Doctor Doom. This has led to speculation that the trailer for the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, might be revealed at SXSW London.

Before Doctor Doom rose to power, Latveria was ruled by local Barons. Doom, originally from a Romani tribe, returned to the country to seek revenge for his family and successfully overthrew the ruling Baron, taking complete control. Under his leadership, Latveria rapidly modernized and was protected by his army of robots, known as the Servo-Guards.

The meaning behind a recently shown flag at SXSW London is unknown, but a trailer was previewed at CinemaCon and kept secret from the public. This has fans eager to see the full trailer for the upcoming movie. It will likely be released around the time of the event, or perhaps alongside the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, which comes out on July 31st.

Despite previously playing Iron Man and sacrificing his character to save the world in the Avengers movies, Robert Downey Jr. is back for a new film. While his casting as Victor von Doom has been confirmed, the details about his role and its importance to the story haven’t been released yet.

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited to hear the Russo brothers are heading to SXSW London on June 2nd! They’ll be doing some panels and showing Avengers: Infinity War, which is awesome. But get this – Endgame is coming back to cinemas on September 25th, as a lead-up to their new movie, Doomsday. Apparently, they’re adding some brand new footage to Endgame that connects it directly to the story we’ll see in Doomsday – that’s a clever way to tie everything together!

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18.
