‘The Rookie Season 7 Finale: Return or More Drama? Find Out!

Supporters of the show The Rookie are preparing to bid farewell to the officers of the Mid-Wilshire Division as Season 7 comes to an end. The popular ABC series has been renewed for Season 8, but viewers will need to find alternative entertainment on Tuesday evenings until the show resumes. Following Episode 16, titled “The Return,” only two episodes remain, and if past patterns are any guide, these final episodes will merge seamlessly into a thrilling finale.

In this current season of “The Rookie,” two fresh recruits, Deric August as Miles Penn (a former football star turned cop from Texas) and Patrick Keleher as Seth Ridely (a rookie with a history of lying), have joined the LAPD team following Tru Valentino’s departure. Thorsen moved to the North Hollywood Division after Season 6, potentially making a comeback for a guest appearance in future episodes. However, fans anticipating the return of a familiar character in the next episode might feel let down since it appears that character won’t be making an appearance as promised.

Where and When to Watch The Rookie, Season 7, Episode 16, ‘The Return’

All Signs Point to Fired Officer Seth Ridley Coming Back to the LAPD

On April 29, 2025 at 9 PM, viewers can watch The Rookie Season 7, Episode 16, titled “The Return,” on ABC. If you miss it, you can catch up the next day on Hulu. It’s exciting to see Thorsen back on the show, but since the plot hints at mixed emotions among the cast, it seems he was a trainee who joined the force under questionable circumstances. His dismissal might have been due to his refusal to take a blood test to verify his cancer diagnosis claims.

Following another lie being exposed, Ridley hinted at filing a lawsuit against the department. Since then, viewers haven’t seen him in the last five episodes, but there’s speculation that Ridley may have found a way to return to his job on the force. Given that Celina Juarez has graduated, it seems likely that Ridley will be teamed up with John Nolan instead of Lucy Chen, who dismissed him.

In my opinion, it was incredibly gripping when Chen and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) miraculously survived the raging wildfire. With Chen preparing for her sergeant’s exam, their survival opens up new avenues for their relationship as Bradford is now no longer part of her command chain. As Bradford assists Chen in her studies, romantic sparks are sure to fly before the test.

What to Expect From the Final Two Episodes of The Rookie Season 7

After a Brief Scene Earlier This Season, Monica Stevens Is Sure to Return

Shawn Ashmore’s character transitioned into a prosecutor and found himself in conflict with his ex-lover Monica Stevens (Bridget Regan). The hint in the summary that Wesley encounters trouble with an influencer might be a clever setup by Stevens, who completely turned to the dark side at the end of Season 6. It’s almost certain that Stevens will reappear to cause more trouble for the cast before the season finale.

Most Recent AppearanceSeason 7, Episode 11 “Speed”

In Season 6, the last two episodes centered around Stevens’ character, concluding with her on the run. It’s highly likely that the upcoming final episode will see the main cast confronting her. There might be a possible return of characters from the now-cancelled The Rookie: Feds for added drama.

During the interview, he hinted subtly that his past with Stevens may significantly impact the storyline. Given that The Rookie has been confirmed for a eighth season, it’s reasonable to assume there will be a suspenseful conclusion, leaving fans anticipating the arrest of the ex-lawyer turned criminal mastermind. Regardless, this finale is shaping up to be a dramatic and satisfying end to an impressive season for the series that will undoubtedly delight its loyal fanbase.

On Tuesdays at 9 PM, you can catch the latest episodes of “The Rookie” on ABC, and if you miss it, don’t worry! The episode will be available for streaming the next day, plus all seasons from 1 to 6, on Hulu.
