The Righteous Gemstones Finale Debunks 6-Year Keefe Theory

WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for The Righteous Gemstones series finale.

In the last episode of “The Righteous Gemstones,” Keefe’s parents make an appearance, shedding light on a previous theory about his upbringing during Kelvin and Keefe’s wedding ceremony. The show wrapped up with a climactic moment as Jesse, Kelvin, and Judi narrowly evaded Seann William Scott’s character Corey Milsap, who shot them all in the series finale. Interestingly, Corey had saved Eli Gemstone and Baby Billy in season 4, episode 8 by killing his own father, Cobb, who was revealed to be a serial killer.

As a dedicated fan of The Righteous Gemstones, I can’t help but reflect on the jaw-dropping turn of events in the series finale. Corey, who had just orchestrated one of the darkest twists in the show’s history, spiraled even further and ended up on the wrong side of Jesse’s bullet, thanks to BJ’s faithful companion, Dr. Watson, stepping in at a critical moment.

Luckily, Jesse, Kelvin, and Judi all managed to survive this harrowing ordeal. And you know what that means? Our favorite character, Kelvin, was finally able to propose to Keefe during the finale episode and they got married!

The Gemstone family, after going through so much strife, finally found some semblance of peace. Elijah Gemstone’s cherished golden Bible was returned to its rightful place within the family. The series concluded with the Gemstones at last enjoying a sense of tranquility.

As for Eli, he decided to return to his boat somewhere in sunny Florida and reconnect with Lori Milsap once more. It’s a new chapter for them both, but they’ll always have the memories—and the lessons learned—from their time together as the leaders of the Righteous Gemstone ministry.

The Righteous Gemstones Seemingly Debunks The Theory That Keefe Also Came From A Preacher Family

Keefe’s Parents Briefly Appear In The Finale During Kelvin & Keefe’s Wedding Ceremony

In the span of four seasons on The Righteous Gemstones, we haven’t learned much about Keefe’s past or how he was raised. His past as a satanist before working for Kelvin was introduced in season 1. Keefe claims that it was Kelvin who rescued him and led him towards God and Christianity. There’s been speculation that Keefe might have come from a family of preachers, which supposedly drove his life choices prior to meeting Kelvin. However, when Keefe’s parents are finally seen in the series finale, they don’t seem to be associated with being preachers.

In the final episode of The Righteous Gemstones, Keefe’s parents are scarcely present and don’t speak at all, making it challenging to understand their narrative and occupation. Given their unconventional clothing style, it’s plausible they aren’t orthodox Christians; however, with so few details about their past provided in The Righteous Gemstones, it remains uncertain.

It might be intriguing to observe how Keefe’s parents engaged with Keefe, Kelvin, or even Eli during the wedding, as their presence was presumably expected due to the occasion, but it would have added depth to the story if we got a glimpse of their interactions.

Keefe Should Have Gotten An “Interlude” Flashback Before The Righteous Gemstones’ Ending

It Could Have Revealed More About His Relationship With His Parents & Family

In the series The Righteous Gemstones, it’s intriguing that more detail wasn’t given about Keefe’s past. While we know he was a satanist and lived a life of partying and drug use before meeting Kelvin, there’s not much known about his time prior to this. An episode similar to the “Interludes” in the show could have been dedicated to Keefe, focusing on his life before meeting Kelvin. These Interlude episodes typically delve into the Gemstone family’s past, often taking place when Jesse, Kelvin, and Judi were children and Aimee Leigh was still alive.

In this Interlude episode, we could delve into the backstory of characters like BJ and Tiffany, shedding light on their lives before they joined the Gemstones. Given that Kelvin and Keefe’s relationship helped them both embrace their sexuality by coming out as gay, it would be intriguing to explore Keefe’s struggles during his teenage and college years, particularly with issues related to religion, sexuality, family, and more. Unfortunately, the series finale of The Righteous Gemstones doesn’t explicitly reveal how Keefe’s parents feel about him marrying Kelvin. This leaves an open-ended question about their relationship dynamic now that the show has concluded.
