The Resident EP Reveals Unseen Billie and Conrad Love Story and Season 7 Plans

Originally airing on Fox, the medical drama “The Resident” ended after six seasons in 2023. As a devoted viewer of the show, I must admit that its termination was difficult to accept. Despite the uncertainty surrounding another season, the finale of Season 6 effectively wrapped up most plotlines. However, there were several unresolved subplots, such as those involving Billie and Conrad, which could have been further developed.

Now, the Executive Producer of the series is disclosing how these storylines would have unfolded in subsequent episodes, causing me to feel a strong sense of “FOMO” (Fear Of Missing Out). Since the show can be accessed with a Hulu subscription, it’s still possible to catch up and experience this intriguing narrative.

Following Nic’s passing, I wasn’t sure if Conrad would find love once more. But then Billie, a friend of Nic’s from way back, entered the scene. Sparks started flying between them, hinting at a potential romance. However, their relationship encountered some hurdles, but eventually, they both admitted their feelings for each other and decided to be together. In the finale, as Conrad and Billie shared their last moments on screen, they expressed their love for one another by saying, “I love you.

It appears that the beloved duo had many more romantic moments ahead, as revealed by series executive producer Amy Holden Jones to TV Insider. In fact, the plan was for these characters to tie the knot. Furthermore, Jones shared some insights into how their love story would have unfolded on the show.

Our plan was to leap through time, showing their marriage first in flashbacks, then witnessing it unfold. The gradual build-up to Billie was so intense, I’m not sure how much more suspense could have been added. Unfortunately, we seemed to overlook the strong bond we shared with Emily during the past few years, which represented a solid, loving couple at the heart of our story. They were like a rock, with challenges coming from external sources such as health or family issues they had to tackle together. A friend of mine only watches shows where a team works towards a common goal, like FBI and our show, as well as Slow Horses.

This version maintains the original’s meaning while using simpler, more conversational language that is easy to understand.

It would have been wonderful if we could witness Billie and Conrad in a blissful married life, surrounded by their family. They truly seemed destined for each other, especially considering the anticipation surrounding their relationship throughout the series. While fans did catch a glimpse of their familial bond towards the end of the last season, I believe it was insufficient to fully satisfy our desire to see more of their romantic journey unfold.

Given their shared hardships, including the complicated love situation, and the fact that they both deserved contentment – similar sentiments apply to Gigi – it’s worth noting that if the series had progressed into Season 7, it wouldn’t have been a smooth ride. As Jones hinted, there would’ve been strife, not just between Billie and Conrad, but potentially among other characters as well.

In our series, conflicts among characters are essential, but in this particular stage, the team was quite unified, so many conflicts had subsided. However, there’s still ample opportunity for tension, as Cade (Kaley Ronayne) and her father Ian (Andrew McCarthy) are still present, both dealing with their individual issues. Additionally, we’ve been hinting at Cade developing a connection with Dr. James Yamada (Ian Anthony Dale).

A drama series wouldn’t feel complete without its share of tension, wouldn’t you agree? It can be painful to witness misfortunes befall beloved characters, but it’s precisely this element that keeps us engaged. Predicting the exact sequence of events is tricky, but during Season 7, Billie and Conrad might have experienced a significant life shift, which I deeply regret not getting to see, especially as it could have provided a ray of hope amidst all the conflict previously mentioned.

It appears we were considering a storyline where Billie might embark on a pregnancy journey, and whether she’d end up having a baby. Given the complications surrounding her first pregnancy, this could potentially be challenging for her. I’m unsure if the outcome would have been her having the child naturally, or if an adoption story might have been more suitable if she faced fertility issues.

I find myself uncertain if I should be happy or sad, learning about the plans for The Resident. However, there is a certain sense of satisfaction in knowing that Season 6 offered some resolution and the characters were generally well-settled by the series finale. As for Billie and Conrad, it’s heartening to imagine their relationship would have continued to grow had the show continued.

Although The Resident has wrapped up its run, enthusiasts can revisit the entire series anytime they wish. It’s filled with engaging tales centered around the staff at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. Personally, I find myself drawn to penning some fan fiction inspired by Amy Holden Jones’ intriguing insights.
