The Remake Co. Unveils 13th Adaptation of Hit Global Franchise ‘Ten Days Without Mom’

FilmSharks’ Remake Company, established in 2007 and known for distributing popular formats and intellectual properties, has reached a significant milestone in its worldwide film adaptation ventures. The company has surpassed its own past record for the most remade title, as “Ten Days Without Mom” now stands as their most adapted film, overtaking the previous record held by “A Boyfriend for My Wife,” which had 12 international adaptations.

The movie ‘Ten Days Without Mom’ is gaining traction worldwide as it now has 13 versions either finished or currently being aired. Major companies such as Nashe Kino in Russia, Athena in India, United King Films in Israel, and Vertigo in Hungary have recently acquired remake rights. This international interest highlights the film’s wide appeal and the continuing effectiveness of The Remake Co.’s strategy.

Sony has refreshed its plans to remake films in both Germany and Turkey, with projects currently underway. On the other hand, the fifth installment of the Spanish movie series “Ten Days Without Mom,” titled “There’s No Father Like the Old One 5,” is scheduled for cinema release on June 26, maintaining its position as one of Spain’s most successful film series at the box office.

Other works by The Remake Co. have gained similar worldwide popularity. For instance, the show “Today We Fix the World” ranked at the top of Netflix’s list in Latin America following its Mexican adaptation. Additionally, “Sin Filtro” has been remade numerous times and remains a consistent box office hit. Lastly, the series “Dos Más Dos” garnered significant streaming success; its Colombian version has been popular on ViX+ charts.

At The Remake Co., they manage significant media collections as well. These include the Patagonik catalog, which is owned by Disney, and Brazil’s Total Entertainment vault, where the blockbuster movie “If I Were You” (“Si Eu Fosse Você”) resides.

Due to the ongoing surge in interest for innovative, remake-ready stories, The Remake Company is actively seeking new collaborations and catalog expansions to satisfy market needs. Some recent acquisitions and projects underway include “Morgue,” currently being tailored for Mexico by BH5 for a 2025 premiere, and the development of a Spanish-language TV series based on “Nine Queens,” which is close to finalizing a deal with a major streaming platform.

Negotiations for additional reworks are at different phases, including: a translation of “Letters to Father Jacob” into English, a localized version of “Big Bad Wolves” in Indonesian, and a joint production with Universal Pictures for the remake of “The Others.

Guido Rud, the creator of FilmSharks and The Remake Co., explains that it’s not a successful movie at the box office that fuels remake possibilities, but rather a unique, contemporary, marketable, and easy-to-produce plot. The Remake Co.’s prominent position in the industry is due to their role as ‘tastemakers,’ as they have an ability to spot excellent screenplays, making producers approach them for potential remake projects suitable for local production. In essence, it’s all about the quality and potential of the script.

With the expanding worldwide demand for content localization, The Remake Co. is well-positioned to stay a key player in fostering global narratives by providing intelligent, flexible adaptations on a large scale.
