‘The Rehearsal’ Season 2 Trailer: Nathan Fielder Tries to Prevent Plane Crashes With Elaborate Airport Simulation

In the second season of “The Rehearsal,” Nathan Fielder tackles a concern that impacts everyone – the occurrence of airplane accidents.

For fun, I’ve delved into investigations of commercial aviation accidents, and I’ve begun to spot a concerning trend in their underlying factors,” he remarks in the trailer airing on HBO starting April 20.

As a movie enthusiast, I’ve always been fascinated by the power of simulation and role-playing. I strongly feel that this concept could revolutionize air traffic control, potentially averting disasters. So, I embarked on an ambitious project: constructing an airport replica on a soundstage. With the help of numerous actors and real-life aviators, I orchestrated a live-action experiment for television audiences.

During one phase of the six-episode series, Fielder comes before Congress, possibly pushing for the expansion of his system on a broader level. Additionally, he dons a disguise, presumably joining the experiment himself, much like he did in Season 1 when he intervened to assist one of his subjects in raising a fictitious child within the test.

Towards the conclusion of the preview, Fielder watches as a mock aircraft disaster, complete with flames, unfolds. Actors portraying gravely injured survivors can be seen. One of them cries out for help, yet Fielder appears unperturbed.

Fielder serves as the main figure behind “The Rehearsal,” a peculiar HBO series where he guides ordinary individuals in preparing for significant life events using high-end, extremely realistic simulations. The show is jointly overseen by Eric Notarnicola, Dave Paige, Christie Smith and Dan McManus from Rise Management; Kris Eber and Carrie Kemper co-produce it; and Adam Locke-Norton is the main producer. Besides their roles as producers, Notarnicola, Kemper, and Locke-Norton contribute to writing the series’ scripts.
