It has been announced that MAGES will unveil a fresh fantasy dungeon RPG inspired by “The Quintessential Quintuplets” for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 in Japan on September 18. The Japanese title of the game is 5toubun no Princess: Gensou to Shin’en to Mahou Gakuin, which can also be translated as “The Quintessential Princesses: Fantasy, Depths, and Magic School“.
This new video game, developed by MAGES, is the fourth primary console release in the series inspired by The Quintessential Quintuplets, deviating from the previous adventure visual novels. The game’s official website also mentions two additional games that compile stories from a mobile puzzle game called 5toPuzz. Interestingly, this will mark MAGES’ first foray into creating a dungeon RPG based on the widely recognized manga and anime series. In addition, the company hinted in the unveiling trailer that this game is a spin-off from the original series.

In an imaginary realm, The Quintessential Princesses story unfolds with the majority of student characters attending a magical school. However, the game’s main character, Futaro Uesugi, continues to play the lead role. Notably, his sister Raiha is transformed into a miniature companion, or familiar.

In addition to announcing their plans for The Quintessential Princesses release on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, MAGES has also disclosed that there will be exclusive physical limited editions available. These special editions will be offered in two different tiers:
1. The Standard Limited Edition includes a booklet, an original soundtrack DVD, and a Blu-ray disc featuring the game’s opening animation, a 45-minute visual drama, as well as 10 minutes of original anime scenes. This version costs 14,190 yen.
A more expensive, high-end version of the “Special Box,” priced at 25,190 yen, will come with extra booklets containing scripts, storyboards for upcoming anime scenes, alternative cover cases, five acrylic stands featuring the Nakano quintuplets, and six badges depicting Futaro and each of the quintuplets.

Below, you’ll find the reveal presentation for “The Quintessential Princesses: Fantasy and Abyss” and “Magic Academy,” along with our translations of the main game elements. At present, an English localization for this Japanese game remains unconfirmed.
Story Synopsis
This is a kingdom where science and magic co-exist.
Futaro Uesugi, a student residing in poverty at the magic academy, got an attractive job proposition as a private tutor. To his surprise, he found out that the students he’d be tutoring were none other than his own classmates – a set of quintuplets!
These five girls, referred to as the daughters of a wealthy noble, who serve the royal family, are notorious for their dislike of studying and are at risk of being held back from advancing to the next grade. Despite this, when dealing with them, the character named Futaro uncovers each girl’s hidden truths or secrets…
Game System
In this game, the player assumes the role of Futaro, who is tasked with tailoring the gear and spell setups for the Nakano Quintuplets as they embark on various missions. Completing these missions will provide access to new stories.
Whether all stories are going to be unlocked or not will be up to the player’s skills.
