Be warned, this article contains spoilers for Season 2, Episode 8 of The Pitt. This week’s episode brought Dr. Langdon and Dr. Santos face-to-face again, though their reunion was tense, as a cyberattack caused major problems at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. After the hospital’s electronic systems went down at the end of last week’s episode, complete chaos erupted. Now, doctors and nurses are forced to rely on paper records, and the situation is only getting more difficult.
Despite the growing disorder in PTMC, The Pitt continued to present challenges for its doctors and heartbreaking situations for its patients. This week, Dr. Robby made a questionable decision regarding a patient’s care, Dr. Mohan reached a significant turning point in her career, and Ogilvie embarrassed himself yet again.
Why Robby Is Giving Roxie More Morphine In The Pitt Season 2

In the latest episode of The Pitt, Dr. McKay and Javadi turned to Robby for help with a difficult patient, Roxie, who was suffering from cancer pain. They explained that Roxie was already receiving high doses of morphine and oxycontin, and increasing the medication further could be fatal. Surprisingly, Robby advised them to prescribe even more morphine, a decision that, along with his reasoning, felt unclear.
Robby increased Roxie’s morphine dosage based on the principle of providing comfort at the end of life. He’s focusing on relieving her pain, not trying to cure her illness or extend her life. He believes that if the medication, while easing her pain, were to hasten her death, that wouldn’t necessarily be a negative outcome – it could even be the most compassionate result.
Roxie is terminally ill and cannot be cured. The doctors at PTMC, including Robby, can only focus on keeping her comfortable as she nears the end of her life. Roxie seems to understand her situation and has expressed a preference for dying in the hospital rather than at home. Robby has interpreted her wishes and is committed to ensuring she experiences as little pain as possible during her final days.
Dr. King & Dr. Ellis Are Being Sued By The Mother Of A Measles Patient

In the eighth episode of The Pitt season 2, the reason behind the medical malpractice lawsuit involving Dr. Mel King was finally explained. Mel has been deeply worried about this case and her upcoming testimony all season. It was also revealed that Dr. Ellis is involved in the lawsuit, and a spontaneous explanation from her clarified the details of the case.
Hillary Edwards is suing Mel and Dr. Ellis because her teenage son, Flynn, received treatment for measles at PTMC after the events of the first season of The Pitt. Hillary strongly opposed vaccinations and initially refused to allow doctors to perform a necessary spinal tap on Flynn. Ultimately, her husband, Larry, authorized the procedure, which saved Flynn’s life.
I’ve been following this case, and it’s really something. Hillary is suing, claiming Dr. King’s spinal tap on Flynn last season led to his cognitive issues. But Dr. Ellis made it clear that spinal taps don’t cause that kind of decline. Apparently, Mel did everything right during the procedure, and the real issue is likely the measles Flynn was battling. Honestly, it seems like Mel is stressing over a lawsuit she’s almost guaranteed to win – it’s a pretty straightforward case, really.
Dr. Langdon Got Mixed Receptions From Dr. Santos & Dr. McKay
via HBO Max
In the eighth episode of The Pitt’s second season, Dr. Langdon and Dr. Santos finally met again, and their interaction was as strained and cold as expected. Viewers may recall that Langdon reacted angrily when Santos revealed his substance use to Robby during the first season, leading Santos to avoid him for the past seven hours within the show’s timeline. This week, however, circumstances forced them to work together on a particularly difficult task.
During a new patient encounter in The Pitt season 2, Santos was clearly cold towards Langdon, giving him disapproving glances and making a pointed comment about rehab that felt directed at him. The tension was obvious, even Joy picked up on it. While Santos’ reaction seemed strong, it was understandable given how Langdon had treated her in the previous season. He still hasn’t offered a sincere apology, and when he does, it’s likely to be another awkward situation.
Langdon had a much better interaction with Dr. McKay. During a break, she opened up about her own journey with addiction and recovery, having previously shared her experiences in season 1 of The Pitt. She offered to be a supportive resource for Langdon if he ever needed help staying sober. Though brief, the kind gesture meant a lot to him after a difficult first day back.
PTMC Treated An Overweight Patient & Ogilvie Embarrassed Himself Again
via MovieStillsDB
Season 2, episode 8 of The Pitt featured a medical case involving Howard Knox, a patient experiencing abdominal pain and a fever. Because of his weight, doctors needed to ensure the CT scanner could accommodate him. After discovering he weighed over 450 pounds, Dr. Abbot decided to transport Howard to Presbyterian Hospital by ambulance.
The Howard case, though straightforward, provided another opportunity for Ogilvie to make a poor impression. He consistently acted irritatingly, telling inappropriate jokes, bringing up irrelevant personal questions about Howard, and even suggesting a trip to the zoo. Ogilvie seems determined to be the most disliked character on The Pitt, and he’s largely achieving that goal.
Dr. Mohan May Be Staying In Pittsburgh After The Pitt Season 2
The latest news from season 2 of The Pitt focuses on Dr. Mohan. She previously announced plans to move to New Jersey for a fellowship to care for her mother. However, her mother has now sold her house and is planning a cruise with a new partner. This means Dr. Mohan no longer needs to move, and she might stay at PTMC for season 3 of The Pitt.

Mohan shared her career plans with Dr. Al-Hashimi and asked for advice on which medical fellowship to choose. Dr. Al-Hashimi recommended geriatrics, noting Mohan’s strong ability to connect with older patients. If Mohan chooses this path, it would likely mean less screen time for her after season 2 of The Pitt, as she would no longer be working in the emergency room.
