Primarily, this article extends well wishes for a swift recovery to Jimmy Kimmel Live!’s sidekick, Guillermo Rodriguez, who fractured his foot and appeared on our screens (whether TV or online) on Monday night in a cast. The Met Gala and the Tony Awards might want to reconsider rescheduling their events, as there’s little enjoyment without Guillermo serving tequila shots on the red carpet, if you catch my drift?
Additionally, I’d like to give a shoutout to John Lutz for his latest “Product Tester” skit on Late Night With Seth Meyers. His presentation perfectly illustrates the role of a critic. After consuming so much of one product, in this case pour-over coffee makers, that it becomes distasteful – a point where you couldn’t possibly judge if any specific version is good or bad. Yet, despite that, opinions and favorites emerge, and when those favorites are taken away, it can cause quite a reaction…or your “sweetness,” to keep things polite. So here are the top pour-over coffee makers of the week, symbolically speaking.

Puppy Spon-con on The Tonight Show
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=eSUQhzjHR1w
In order to be featured in this section, sponsored segments need to impress. This week, Jimmy Fallon has been inviting golden-retriever puppies onto his show, each one standing in for a different horse at the Kentucky Derby. If you manage to correctly guess the positions of these horses during the race, it seems like you could win cars. However, I was captivated by how adorable and food-driven these dogs were instead. The grand finale took place on Thursday’s show when ten of these pups ran across a stage that has previously welcomed stars such as Ariana Grande and Jungkook. I’m placing my bets on Sandman!

Jon Stewart’s Fake Beard

As it turns out, when prop comedy hits the mark, it really works. Jon Stewart’s appearance on Monday’s Daily Show with a long, Rip Van Winkle–like beard perfectly encapsulated how we’ve all been aging during these first hundred days of Trump 2.0. Week after week, Stewart has been delivering some of the best reactions to Trump, and it seems that he might be doing so because he didn’t have to do this during the first term. Alternatively, perhaps it’s due to the fact that the material other hosts are dealing with now was already handled by Stewart during Bush’s second term. In any case, Stewart is currently the most comforting host in the political commentary world. Cheers, old timer!

“Page IS Kramer”

John Mulaney, in his stand-up special “Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney,” playfully challenges conventions (Ted Sarandos) and even promises to tussle with three young lads. Moreover, in the same episode, he creatively dressed members of the band Phish as characters from Seinfeld. While this act might not have resonated much with the audience at “Everybody’s Live,” it was a riot for me at home. I found myself chuckling over questions like, “Why does Mike Gordon’s forehead look like that?” or “Why doesn’t Trey Anastasio wear a wig?” and “Did Fishman pluck his eyebrows for this performance?” The behind-the-scenes footage had an eerie resemblance to the repetitive establishing shots on Seinfeld, making it quite intriguing. Quite remarkable!

Cole Escola’s Straight-Guy Voice
https://youtube.com/watch?v=watch?v=loYSPOl–c4
Cole Escola recently delivered an impressive performance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where he offered witty phrases that any straight man might say, especially when wearing a leather miniskirt. It’s a relatable situation we can all sympathize with! Cole’s ability to capture the essence of such characters and his keen observations make him a standout performer.
When someone said “Enunciation is gay,” it was an eye-opening moment for many. In another development, Cole could be cast as an unsupportive boyfriend in a medical procedural for a character under five years old. Lastly, Stephen Colbert’s impression of a straight guy on the show was spot-on!
