‘The Penguin’ Finale Scores Series High 2.1 Million Viewers

As a fan who’s been following the Batman universe for decades, I must say, “The Penguin” has truly taken flight! The viewership numbers speak for themselves – it’s like watching a bird soaring higher and higher with each episode. Colin Farrell’s portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot is nothing short of brilliant, and the supporting cast adds depth and intrigue that keeps me hooked. It’s not often we get a spinoff series that surpasses its parent show in terms of viewership, but “The Penguin” has managed to do just that!

“The Penguin” continued its streak of viewership growth the finale episode on Sunday night.

According to HBO, the last episode of the spin-off series for “The Batman” garnered 2.1 million viewers across all platforms, establishing a new record for viewership. This Sunday’s viewership increased by approximately 50% compared to the first episode. Since its debut on September 19, the initial episode has amassed nearly 17 million viewers in total.

The show currently holds the second place globally for the most-watched premiere seasons among HBO/Max titles, trailing only “House of the Dragon” and “The Last of Us.

In the continuation of “The Batman,” Colin Farrell returns as the character he played – Gotham City gangster Oswald “Oz” Cobb. The story unfolds following the occurrences in “The Batman,” with Oz aiming to take over the criminal underworld of Gotham, leveraging the power void left by the demise of his previous boss, Carmine Falcone.

In addition to Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, Carmen Ejogo, and Michael Zegen, the series features Mark Strong as Falcone during flashback scenes. Previously, John Turturro portrayed the character in “The Batman.
