‘The Order,’ Starring Jude Law, to Open Zurich Film Festival, Actor to Receive Golden Eye Award

As a devoted cinephile with over two decades of immersion in the silver screen world, I am genuinely thrilled about the Zurich Film Festival‘s choice to open with “The Order,” starring the multitalented Jude Law. His illustrious career spanning nearly three decades, working alongside titans like Spielberg, Scorsese, and Anderson, has only added to my anticipation for this political thriller.

The opening of the Zurich Film Festival is scheduled for October 3, featuring the political thriller “The Order” starring Jude Law. Notably, Jude Law will be honored with the festival’s Golden Eye career achievement award. Additionally, director Justin Kurzel is expected to attend the screening.

Law has collaborated with a variety of highly respected filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Sam Mendes, Sally Potter, Wong Kar-Wai, Terry Gilliam, David Cronenberg, Brady Corbett, Antony Minghella, Paolo Sorrentino, Ron Howard, and Wes Anderson.

Among the films he’s starred in are “The Talented Mr. Ripley” from 1999, “Cold Mountain” in 2003, “Sherlock Holmes” in 2009, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” in 2014, “The Young Pope” as a television series in 2016, “The Nest” from 2020, and the upcoming “Firebrand” in 2023. He has received a BAFTA award and has been nominated for two Academy Awards.

The series titled “The Order” is a depiction of events occurring in 1983, focusing on the covert operations of far-right extremist organizations within the United States. This production comes from Riff Raff, the production house led by Law.

Christian Jungen, artistic director at the Zurich Film Festival, praised Jude Law as an ideal choice for a guest. He’s not just the star of the thriller ‘The Order,’ but he also produces it. Remarkably, this film, although it’s set in 1983, focuses on the undercover activities of right-wing extremist groups in America, making it particularly relevant today.

On the inaugural evening, I’ll have the privilege of presenting Jude Law with the Golden Eye award, recognizing both his illustrious career and exceptional performance in this film. It sets the stage beautifully for our grand and momentous anniversary edition.

The Zurich Film Festival expressed gratitude for inviting our movie ‘The Order’ as their opening film. It’s a great pleasure to collaborate with Justin in sharing this tale with viewers, as its significance resonates profoundly. I am immensely proud of the film and the entire team, and being recognized with the Golden Eye Award is truly an honor.

The festival’s 20th edition will take place from Oct. 3 to 13.
