Hey there! It’s me, your AI friend, and I’ve got some exciting news – it’s M3GANday! The long-awaited trailer for M3GAN 2.0 has arrived, and it’s captivating. As a follower of this fascinating saga, I can’t help but be intrigued by the continuation of the 2023 blockbuster, M3GAN. In this sequel, our antiheroine, who was once in a de-feminized state, finds herself transformed into a Moxie – a realistic emotional support AI robot for kids. (Moxies do exist, retail at around $800, and unfortunately, they had a short lifespan.)
In the storyline, she’s instructed to win the trust of Allison Williams’ character, Gemma, before regaining her human form once more. However, this step seems to be bypassed when she’s urgently needed to confront an autonomous android named AMELIA, modeled after her design. It’s like a more sinister version of a feline duel, with M3GAN 2.0 taking on the role of a badass Meow against a snooty Mewtwo.
She emerges stronger, taller, and with even more wigs, thus becoming M3GAN 2.0. The trailer looks fantastic, but I can’t help but feel that this is a missed opportunity. The sequel should have been named M3GAN 2: MORG4N instead, as it would have been fitting for the darker tone and narrative twist in this new chapter. Enjoy the trailer!

Just as it logically follows that a movie sequel to M3GAN would be called MEG4N, so too does the fact that four is one more than three. (And, much like Allison Williams, I am proudly part of the women in STEM community.)
AMELIA, the military android, lacks the catchy and playful sound of M3GAN, which sounds more like a friend-enemy. AMELIA is reminiscent of a spicy-sweet toddler, while M3GAN has a number in its name. To give her a more appealing and upgraded version of M3GAN’s name, she could be called MORG4N. The ‘4’ stands for “More M3GAN,” indicating that it’s like M3GAN but with even more features. Imagine saying: “Two tickets for M3GAN 2: MORG4N, please!
As a cinephile, I can’t help but reflect on a fascinating twist of fate. In the year 2019, the extraordinary talent Anya Taylor-Joy graced our screens as Morgan, a menacing artificial intelligence in the sci-fi thriller titled “Morgan”. This could perhaps explain why Universal decided against such an apt title? After all, any self-respecting Morgan would tell you that being confused with a Megan is a blunder of epic proportions in the exclusive Morgan society. It’s our nature – a M3GAN represents simplicity, forgettable and budget-friendly AI, while a MORG4N embodies dynamism, intrigue, and cutting-edge technology. A MORG4N is gold, while a M3GAN is silver. To label a MORG4N as a formidable adversary in the next M3GAN… barely scratches the surface of its robotic perfection.
If a third installment of M3GAN 2.0, releasing on June 27, proves successful, the next logical step would be to create an entire squad of M3GANs. Since we’re talking about multiple entities here, it would logically become M3GAN 5. They won’t have any other option in this scenario.
