‘The Naked Gun’ Trailer: Liam Neeson Reboots the Franchise and Slaughters Bad Guys in a School Girl Uniform

A new trailer for the remake of “The Naked Gun” has arrived, showcasing a unique blend of talents: slapstick humor, sleek action sequences, Liam Neeson in polka-dot swimming trunks and school uniform, plus, as expected, a witty reference to O.J. Simpson.

Akiva Schaffer, a key member of the humor group The Lonely Island known for their digital and cinematic comedy, steps into the role of director. The production duties are handled by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of “Family Guy”, along with Erica Huggins.

In this hilarious series, I portrayed Franklin “Frank” Drebin – a kind-hearted but rather gullible detective who brought laughter to countless viewers as he navigated through the absurdities of police procedural parodies. The first movie, released in 1988 under the title “The Naked Gun: From the Files of a Police Squad,” was an undeniable success, both critically and commercially. It received rave reviews from critics and pocketed a cool $140 million at the box office!

These films were financially successful. Since 2013, Paramount has been trying to revive the series. Initially, it was planned to recast Frank Drebin with Ed Helms, but that adaptation failed to materialize.

Back in early 2021, it was revealed that McFarlane was brought on board to revamp the movie. Specifics about the storyline and a production schedule are yet to be disclosed. The film is set to hit cinemas across the country on July 18. Here’s the first sneak peek in the form of a teaser trailer:
