For enthusiasts of Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs), you may already know about Chrono Odyssey – an upcoming creation by the Chrono studio, set to launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. Glancing at the previews, it’s clear that the game boasts stunning visuals. If you’re eagerly anticipating this release, there’s some exciting news: it appears that a playtest opportunity is coming up soon!
All you need to know about Chrono Odyssey playtest
After a prolonged period of minimal interaction, the official Chrono Odyssey X account has sprung back to life, with fresh updates almost daily. One post in particular has piqued our interest.
Visiting the Steam page for Chrono Odyssey offers a two-in-one opportunity! That’s right, it serves as both a source of amusement and a chance to request early access to the gameplay test. Enjoy the chuckle while you secure your spot in the playtest fun!
We don’t have much information yet, but this news definitely has us excited! The last playtest took place in February, which was a private Focus Group Test. It appears that developers picked up some valuable insights from it and are now prepared to move forward with the next stage of development.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve got to say, it feels like the perfect moment! In one of their latest updates, the creators have dropped hints about potentially launching Chrono Odyssey this year (be sure to watch the attached video all the way through). So far, the game hasn’t been extensively marketed. But considering past projects, a well-timed playtest could generate at least initial interest from gamers. It also serves as a validation of the game’s quality, addressing some concerns players have expressed about its caliber.
Concerns regarding Chrono Odyssey
It’s clear from Reddit comments that some gamers express a certain level of wariness towards Chrono Odyssey. And it’s not hard to understand why – the game appears almost too good to believe, given its stunning visuals showcased in the gameplay trailer.
In contrast, the most recent video on their official YouTube channel is now over a year old (the trailer shown earlier dates back two years). Additionally, updates from the developers on X have been scarce until recently. While dedication to work is commendable, for a studio with no prior blemishes, this can raise eyebrows among some observers.
To keep in mind, Chrono Studio has a publisher backing it – Kakao Games. This might be comforting because Kakao Games is a legitimate company with a history of successful games. Nonetheless, some players could feel slightly apprehensive since their most renowned game is the mobile title Guardian Tales. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Kakao Games is also the publisher for another upcoming MMORPG, ArcheAge Chronicles.
It’s obvious that a trial run, or playtest, would be beneficial for both the creators of Chrono Odyssey and those who are hesitant about the game, as it would help alleviate concerns and generate buzz. After all, many people question whether this new title can live up to the long-standing popularity of World of Warcraft, which remains a leader in the MMORPG genre even after more than two decades. While some fans are eager for something fresh and visually appealing, others may be skeptical about trying something new, given the challenges faced by many modern online games in retaining players over time. Only a playtest can provide the answers we seek about Chrono Odyssey’s potential to captivate audiences and become a successor to World of Warcraft’s throne.
