As a film enthusiast with a deep appreciation for both classic and contemporary cinema, I am thrilled to share my perspective on the upcoming movie releases of 2023. Having spent countless hours immersed in the world of films, attending festivals, and engaging in discussions with fellow cinephiles, I feel confident in my ability to provide an informed opinion on the following titles.


Prepare yourself for an abundance of sequels, third installments, and prequels set to hit theaters in 2024. Some of these films were originally scheduled for release but were postponed due to the industry disruptions caused by the Hollywood strikes.

Despite delays caused by actors and writers strikes, film enthusiasts can look forward to a rich selection of movies in the upcoming year. If you’re into superheroes and comic book adaptations, there’s an abundance of options on the horizon, including “Madame Web,” “Deadpool 3,” “Venom 3,” and “Joker: Folie a Deux.”

As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited about several upcoming sequels that I can’t wait to see. These include “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” where I assume the frozen terrain will bring new challenges for our beloved ghostbusting team. With “Kung Fu Panda 4,” Po and his friends are back, and I’m curious about their new adventures. In “Inside Out 2,” I look forward to diving deeper into the emotional world of Riley and her inner workings. Lastly, in “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” the epic battle between Godzilla and King Kong continues – may the best monster win! The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes also intrigues me, as we explore more about this ape civilization.

Some well-known directors are joining the lineup with projects such as George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” and “Minari’s” Lee Isaac Chung’s “Twisters.” In September, Francis Ford Coppola will release his long-awaited “Megalopolis.” Meanwhile, Ridley Scott is back with a new installment of “Gladiator,” titled “Gladiator II,” which has been 24 years since the first film.

Horror enthusiasts can look forward to numerous frightening experiences with upcoming sequels such as “A Quiet Place: Day One” and “MaXXXine.” Towards the end of the year, don’t miss out on “Terrifier 3” and “Smile 2” before Halloween arrives.

Unbelievably, Ellie discovers that the characters she wrote about are no longer figments of her imagination – they’re real, and they’ve got their sights set on her.

However, this peaceful transition is disrupted when a new adversary, The Chameleon (Viola Davis), a sorceress with the ability to transform and absorb the kung fu of villains, emerges, intent on causing harm to Po. Sadly, it seems the noodles will have to be postponed for now.

Their mission: to alleviate the unease of white people. Yet, when Aren develops feelings for An-Li Bogan (played by Quintessa Swindell), his client Drew Tarver (Brandon J. Dirden) also pursues her, causing internal turmoil and rule-breaking dilemmas for our protagonist.

    Road House (March 21)

    Jake Gyllenhaal takes on the role of a former UFC fighter-turned-bouncer in Doug Liman’s forthcoming remake of the 1989 cult favorite. This film originally starred Patrick Swayze in the leading part. Now, Gyllenhaal’s character, Dalton, encounters unsavory individuals at a roadhouse he works for in the Florida Keys, owned by Jessica Williams’ Frankie. Making his acting debut opposite Gyllenhaal is Conor McGregor, who has previously competed in actual UFC matches.

Yet, things take an unexpected turn when I see him become emotionally entangled in the rescue of Adria Arjona’s character from an abusive relationship. With Austin Amelio, Retta, and Molly Bernard joining the cast, this film promises a captivating journey filled with surprises.

    Bad Boys 4 (June 14)

In addition to Murphy, Judge Reinhold and John Ashton will reappear as local law enforcement officers, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kevin Bacon make their debuts in the series. Completing the cast are Taylour Paige, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Mark Pellegrino.

    I’m excited to share that I’ll be part of the upcoming “Alien” franchise installment, which is confirmed by Cailee Spaeny herself to take place between the events of the original “Alien” (1979) and its sequel “Aliens” (1986). This sci-fi horror thriller will be helmed by Fede Álvarez, with a script co-written by him and Rodo Sayagues. Alongside me, the talented cast includes Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. Can’t wait to join this amazing team!
