The Morning Show EP Teases How Jennifer Aniston And Reese Witherspoon Come Together In Season 4, And I Wasn’t Expecting Wicked To Be Name-Dropped

The wait between seasons of “The Morning Show” is always a long two years, but fortunately, our latest break has come to an end. Season 4 is scheduled for release on September 17, 2025, and I can’t wait to see Jennifer Aniston as Alex Levy and Reese Witherspoon as Bradley Jackson (ideally in the same scenes) when the Apple TV+ series returns. Executive Producer Charlotte Stoudt hinted at their reunion, and I wasn’t prepared for her comparison to “Wicked.

After the third season, fans of a popular Apple TV+ series expressed disappointment that Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon didn’t share many scenes together. Despite acknowledging that the characters portrayed by Aniston and Witherspoon, fictional TV hosts Alex and Bradley, have a complex relationship, the showrunner emphasized that their bond remains crucial to each other’s storylines. In an interview with TV Insider, she explained:

“Although Alex and Bradley’s dynamic may be tumultuous at times, their connection will always hold significant importance in both characters’ narratives.

At the core of this production, we find the significant influence these two women have on each other, much akin to the musical “Wicked.” In that story, the characters also undergo transformative changes, influencing one another in profound ways.

Amazingly unexpected! Yet, it all fits perfectly well. Alex and Bradley are as distinct as Elphaba and Galinda from “Wicked.” Each character influences their counterpart, and let’s cross our fingers that they inspire the best in one another, much like in “The Morning Show.

Isn’t it Billy Crudup’s character, Cory Ellison, from TMS who reminds us of Oz the Great and Powerful, given that he often appears to be manipulating things from behind the scenes?

In Season 4 of “The Morning Show,” which can be streamed with an Apple TV+ subscription, we’ll witness the consequences of Bradley’s choice to surrender to the FBI after tampering with evidence related to January 6. Meanwhile, Alex is grappling with her fresh duties following the UBA-NBN merger. Among these events, Stella Bak (portrayed by Greta Lee) will be introduced as the new CEO, and Celine Dumont, a partial owner played by Marion Cotillard, will also make an appearance as part of the cast.

These women are truly remarkable and formidable, yet it’s important to note that Charlotte Stoudt cautions that they will encounter numerous challenges ahead. In other words, while they are impressive, they should be prepared for various hurdles on their path.

At last, the women were given access to the office, and as my usual saying goes, when women gain control, it seldom comes without conditions. It’s rarely a straightforward, “Here they are.

For Season 4 of The Morning Show, that intriguing premise could well hold its own in the real world. Previously, the series addressed topics such as the Me Too movement, COVID-19, January 6th events, and abortion rights. But given the creative team’s track record, we can expect Season 4 to delve deeper than just gender politics. As hinted by the Executive Producer, this new chapter will see the journalists grappling with challenges like deepfakes, artificial intelligence, and misinformation.
