The Match Factory announced several agreements for international distribution of “All That’s Left of You,” directed by Cherien Dabis and previously screened at Sundance. This film will debut in Europe for the first time during the Special Screenings section at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, scheduled for July.
The movie, referred to by EbMaster as “scorching, truthful, and heart-wrenching,” made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival’s Premieres section in January, showcasing it for the first time on a global scale.
The Match Factory has finalized agreements in significant regions such as Italy (Officine UBU), Spain (Karma Films), the Benelux area (September Film Distribution), Switzerland (Trigon-Film), Turkey (Bir Film), Latin America (Cine Canibal), and Indonesia (PT Falcon). Talks for more territories are ongoing. Currently, a deal in North America is being discussed. The distribution in Germany and Austria has been arranged separately with X Verleih, while the French rights have been procured by Nour Films.
In the opinion of one critic, the third movie by Palestinian-American director Dabis skillfully combines private and public issues, creating a profoundly emotional story. The Guardian praised it as being “richly layered and deeply touching.
Following a Palestinian teenager being caught up in a demonstration within the West Bank, his mother shares their heartening tale of resilience, bravery, and unyielding determination that culminated in this pivotal incident.
The movie is made by Thanassis Karathanos, Dabis, Martin Hampel, and Karim Amer. Janine Teerling and Marios Piperides serve as co-producers. It’s a joint production from Pallas Film, Twenty Twenty Vision Filmproduktion, Displaced Pictures, and Nooraluna Productions. AMP Filmworks and ZDF/ARTE also contribute to its production.
