The Match Factory Appoints Former Netflix Exec as VP Acquisitions

As a seasoned film industry enthusiast, I am thrilled to welcome Marc van den Bosch-Mprah to his new role as VP Acquisitions at The Match Factory! With over 15 years of experience under his belt, including stints at RTL, Warner Bros., Viacom, and most recently Netflix, it’s clear that Marc brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.

The acquisition division at streaming and production firm Mubi, which includes The Match Factory (a world-renowned sales and production entity), has hired ex-Netflix executive Marc van den Bosch-Mprah as their Vice President of Acquisitions.

In Berlin, the recently established position is now held by van den Bosch-Mprah, who will start reporting directly to Michael Weber, our general manager, with immediate effect. His main responsibility will be to spearhead The Match Factory’s global acquisition strategy.

Most recently, Van den Bosch-Mprah worked at Netflix, serving as head of acquisitions and co-production for German-speaking Europe over the past two years. During this time, he played a key role in negotiating a long-term partnership for Constantin’s theatrical releases within that region, also collaborating on the production of films, series, and documentaries – including Netflix’s first Swiss production titled “Early Birds.”

Van den Bosch-Mprah boasts over a decade and a half of expertise within the realm of films and television. Before his tenure at Netflix, he held leadership positions at the continental media titan RTL, Warner Bros., and Viacom.

According to Weber, Marc’s skills in acquisition strategy, sales, and local production perfectly match our aim of expanding globally. His ability to link creative content with market potential, coupled with our extensive knowledge of the international acquisition and co-production landscape, forms a strong alliance that significantly contributes to our global expansion plans, making Marc a crucial element in these initiatives.

As a film enthusiast, I eagerly anticipate my upcoming meetings as The Match Factory readies itself for the autumn festivals. At the prestigious Venice Film Festival, we’ll be unveiling “Harvest” by Athina Rachel Tsangari, “Edge of Night” by Türker Süer, and “Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass” from the Quay Brothers. Toronto is also on our radar, boasting a robust lineup that includes Joshua Oppenheimer’s “The End,” along with several films making their way from Venice and Cannes.
