As I delve into this intriguing tale of masked performers, I find myself utterly captivated by the vibrant personalities and life stories that each contestant brings to the stage. The Masked Singer is more than just a game show; it’s a platform where individuals from diverse backgrounds share their experiences, talents, and transformations.
SPOILER ALERT: Details follow for Season 12, Episode 9 of “The Masked Singer,” “Peanuts Night,” which aired Thursday, November 28 on Fox.
On a special Thanksgiving-themed episode of “The Masked Singer,” there were double eliminations. The characters from Peanuts added to the festive atmosphere, as both the Royal Knight and Sherlock Hound were sent home. It turned out that behind the mask of the Royal Knight was singer and actress Jana Kramer (“One Tree Hill”), while the identity of Sherlock Hound was revealed to be former baseball player Bronson Arroyo.
Initially, The Royal Knight was revealed as the hidden identity. Out of all the judges, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg guessed correctly with Jana Kramer. Rita Ora believed Anna Faris to be the one. Ken Jeong thought it was Kelly Ripa. Robin Thicke picked Busy Philipps instead.
Later, Strawberry Shortcake and Sherlock Hound clashed in a fierce competition, dancing to “Shivers,” by Ed Sheeran. Strawberry Shortcake emerged victorious, advancing to the next round, whereas Sherlock Holmes’ identity was exposed.
In the game of guessing celebrities’ favorite musicians, Sherlock Holmes found that Bronson Arroyo was correctly identified by both Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg opted for Scott Stapp from the band Creed, while Rita Ora chose Hozier.
During their last routine shows, Kramer belted out “Holiday,” a Madonna tune, and Arroyo played “Ho Hey,” a song by The Lumineers.
Tonight’s episode was themed as “Peanuts Night,” celebrating “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” and the upcoming 75th anniversary of the beloved “Peanuts” comic strip, first published in 1950. The show began with the panelists from “The Masked Singer” and costumed Peanuts characters gathered around a Thanksgiving dinner table, followed by Rita Ora and Robin Thicke performing “You Make My Dreams Come True,” originally by Daryl Hall and John Oates.
In the latest season of “The Masked Singer”, we saw Jana Kramer emerge as a Royal Knight, Bronson Arroyo transformed into Sherlock Hound, and Drake Bell took on the role of Ice King. Other celebrities who were unmasked include Bethany Hamilton as Macaron, Natalie Imbruglia as Bluebell, Laverne Cox as Chess Piece, Andy Richter as Dusty Bunny, Paula Cole as Ship, Marsai Martin as Woodpecker, Yvette Nicole Brown as Showbird, and John Elway as Leaf Sheep.
In Season 12, Nick Cannon returns as the host, joined by regular panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Robin Thicke. For the second year running, Ora takes over for Nicole Scherzinger at the desk.
In Season 12, “The Masked Singer” is presenting special episodes based on significant anniversaries such as Mattel’s Barbie at 65 and “Footloose” at 40. Miley Cyrus will have an episode dedicated to her music, and there’s a new event called “Who Are You Fest,” showcasing popular tunes from iconic festival lineups. Also coming up are “Sports Night” and a 1960’s themed night. Returning themes include “Soundtrack of My Life” and “Thanksgiving Night.
This new season introduces clues hidden within costumes, song selections, and key performance moments. Additionally, our fifteen famous contestants will receive support from a “Masked Ambassador,” a renowned figure among past participants such as Dick Van Dyke (Season 9’s Gnome), Jewel (Season 6 champion, the Queen of Hearts), Ne-Yo (Season 10 winner, the Cow), and DeMarcus Ware (Season 11’s Koala). The “Ding Dong Keep It On” bell returns this season, yet only one performer from the three group finals will be granted a reprieve.
Season 12 features 15 contestants performing in new costumes including “Ship,” “Leaf Sheep,” “Woodpecker,” “Chess Piece,” “Bluebell,” “Buffalo,” “Showbird,” “Dust Bunny,” “Goo,” “Strawberry Shortcake,” “Sherlock Hound,” “Royal Knight,” “Ice King,” “Macaron” and more.
Here were the final round of Group C performances on Thursday’s Episode 9, “Thanksgiving Night”:
Strawberry Shortcake
Song: “I Hope You Dance,” by Lee Ann Womack
Panel guesses: Kelsea Ballerini, Hailee Steinfeld, Selena Gomez
Thanksgiving giving clue: Mouse ears. “Mouse ears were instrumental in how I got my start.”
“Strawberry Shortcake’s voiceover: ‘Thanksgiving holds a special place in my heart. I have many delightful memories associated with it, such as participating in grand parades! However, my most cherished memory is spending time in the kitchen with my mom during this season. As children, we’d sing together, filling the house with our joyous melodies. We’d harmonize and she possessed a voice so enchanting it could make anyone swoon. She inspired me to pursue my dreams, even when I felt afraid. I am eternally grateful for her support. Over time, though, I noticed her own self-assurance in singing wane. Stage fright took hold, which was painful to witness. To this day, I long to hear her sing once more. If donning the costume of a scrumptious dessert on Thanksgiving Day allows her to find her voice again, even for just one day, that would be the perfect finale.’
Previous songs: “Slow Burn,” by Kacey Musgraves; “Wrecking Ball,” by Miley Cyrus
Past Contenders Predicted: Renee Rapp, Lana del Rey, Rachel Ziegler, Chloe Fineman, Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale (as possible options)
Royal Knight
Song: “Holiday,” by Madonna
Panel guesses: Anna Faris, Busy Philipps, Jana Kramer
A hint for Thanksgiving: Distinguished Writer: “I am an actor, a singer, and I fully embrace every moment of life. I also penned a best-selling book that shares my story.
Narrator’s voice: “I have never felt more grateful than I do now, as I’m finally experiencing my own fairy tale ending. Tonight, my table will be an extraordinary spectacle. My eldest son will help carve the turkey with such tender care. Next, my middle child will set the table, my gentle, compassionate companion. And this year, we’ll celebrate our miracle baby, a blessing I never thought could happen. This will be their very first taste of pumpkin pie. It’s moments like these that remind me how much I’ve transformed from the girl I used to be. I’ve faced many trials and tribulations in life, been criticized and belittled, but it’s taken me a long time to stand here with courage. Now, I strive to instill self-love in all my children from the very beginning. This performance is for them. So thank you for making me the most fortunate mother in the world. Because this holiday, everything I need is right here on my table.
Previous songs: “You and I,” by Lady Gaga; “When I Look At You,” by Miley Cyrus
In the previous round, the following actresses were suggested: Ashley Tisdale, Lily James, Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kate Hudson, and Aubrey Plaza.

In the previous panel, the following names were suggested: Eddie Vedder, Gavin Rossdale, Chad Kroeger, Brandon Boyd, Adam Levine, Johnny Rzeznik from Goo Goo Dolls, Scott Stapp of Creed, Hozier, and Nate Ruess from Fun.
As a movie reviewer, I recently had the pleasure of watching last season’s dazzling array of talent on this unique reality show. Among the impressive cast was Vanessa Hudgens, who dazzled as Goldfish, ultimately outshining Scott Porter’s captivating performance as Gumball.
