Nintendo has unveiled when they plan to launch their live-action Legend of Zelda movie, however, there could potentially be more than just this one on the horizon. Whispers indicate that this film may in fact be the starting point for a three-picture series.

According to Production List, a monitoring service operated by the Film and Television Industry Alliance, the initial shoot for The Legend of Zelda movie is planned to take place in New Zealand starting from November 2025 and running through April 2026. If all goes as scheduled, the film will be released in March 2027, with pre-production possibly commencing before that.

Additionally, the website provides a brief summary of the film. In this story, Zelda accompanies Link, a valiant young hero tasked with safeguarding the enchanted realm of Hyrule against the malevolent powers of shadow.

The territory is at risk due to Ganon, an infamous warlord, who desires the Triforce – a legendary artifact believed to offer infinite power. To thwart him, Link embarks on a treacherous expedition, engaging in fierce battles with grotesque beasts, navigating dangerous labyrinths, and deciphering complex riddles to discover sacred items that can aid him in his mission.

In recent times, The Legend of Zelda has become the third Nintendo series to be adapted into a film, following the successes of Detective Pikachu and The Super Mario Bros Movie. Notably, The Super Mario Bros Movie ranked as the second highest-grossing film of 2023.

In simple terms, “The upcoming Zelda movie is being produced by its original creator Shigeru Miyamoto, who heads Nintendo, Avi Arad, a previous top creative executive at Marvel Entertainment, and Wes Ball, director of ‘The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’, will be directing it.
