As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve played countless hours of The Legend of Zelda series and have grown attached to the iconic character, Link. However, the latest addition to the franchise, Echoes of Wisdom, has piqued my interest with its unique twist – the ability to play as both Link and Zelda.
In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you have the intriguing opportunity to assume the role of Zelda in addition to the series’ iconic character, Link, based on the game’s ESRB rating. Yet, the exact significance of Link’s part is still unclear.
From a devoted fan’s perspective, I can tell you that in this game, I get to play as the legendary hero, Link, wielding a sword and arrows to vanquish adversaries. However, the enigmatic Zelda holds an entirely distinct set of abilities. She can conjure creatures, such as wind-up knights, pig soldiers, and even slime, to join her in combat. The specifics of how Link and Zelda’s roles will diverge are yet to be revealed. But one thing is certain: Zelda’s powers extend beyond the ordinary, allowing her to summon household items like tables and chairs, as well as more peculiar objects such as water blocks.
As an avid fan, I’ve come across intriguing theories on Reddit about the upcoming game. Some users believe that I’ll assume the role of Link during the initial segment, only to be later captured and transition into controlling Zelda. Others suggest a New Game+ mode where I’d get to play as Link again, much like in Castlevania series.
In the beginning of the trailer, it seems that the clips showing Link fighting and defeating Ganon, followed by being pulled into a portal, are compiled from gameplay footage. This technique of starting with a different character is common in video games such as Star Fox Adventures and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. However, whether or not Link plays a larger role throughout the game remains to be seen upon its complete release.
