Recently, NIS America and PH3 have rolled out a fresh PC upgrade for “The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak II,” building upon its recent significant update that incorporated TAA, DLSS4, among other features. Today’s update introduces XeSS support and performance enhancements tailored for specific GPUs.
Following the integration of DLSS4 and TAA, PH3 and NIS America have unveiled an updated version of Trails From the Sky II featuring XeSS support. This update also enhances performance for Intel dedicated graphics cards and AMD integrated GPUs straight out of the box, as explained in a Steam blog post from Durante. As previously hinted with the last release, there are intentions to bring these new features to the PC version of Trails From the Sky, though no specific timeline has been provided yet.
I’ve delved into Scott’s review of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak II right here, compared consoles over there, discussed PC port features in this corner, and chatted with PH3’s Peter ‘Durante’ Thoman about his work on Trails Through Daybreak II and other fascinating topics right over yonder. Check it out!
In the Western regions, you can now play The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak II on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, as well as on PC platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, thanks to publisher NIS America.

Hi everyone,
In our update notes for when we added DLSS, we mentioned we wanted to explore other scaling technologies like XeSS and FSR too, but they don’t have DirectX 11 compatibility. Interestingly enough, on the very same day, Intel launched an updated version of XeSS (XeSS 2) with support for DirectX 11.
In other words, this particular version offers compatibility with Intel XeSS scaling technology on GPUs that are officially supported by Intel (for more specific details about the compatible hardware, consult the Intel XeSS webpage).
Here’s the full list of changes and improvements:
- Introduce Intel XeSS SR support.
- Fix an issue where the delay for active voice dialogue lines might be inappropriate for some audio/text language combinations.
- Improve out-of-the-box performance on dedicated Intel GPUs and integrated AMD GPUs by providing a more fine-grained automatic configuration of host write buffering behaviour.
I trust you’ll find this update pleasant. In case there are any setbacks (referred to as ‘regressions’), remember that you can restore an earlier version of the game via the ‘Beta’ option in Steam.
Cheers,
Peter “Durante” Thoman, CTO, PH3
