It’s appropriate that the trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 opens with Joel and Ellie apart physically, as there’s a deep emotional divide between them by the end of the final scene depicted. In the upcoming season, five years have passed since Season 1, and Ellie remains unaware of Joel’s actions to save her life. Once she discovers the truth, their relationship will never be the same again.
As a devoted fan, I must admit that the newest trailer for The Last of Us Part II is rather cryptic if you’re not already familiar with the series. However, it’s clear that Joel and Ellie have managed to carve out some semblance of peace over the years. Yet, their tranquility may be shattered as their sanctuary isn’t as secure as they thought, with both the infected and external threats looming. Among these new dangers is Abby, skillfully portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever, who seems to be a significant character in this upcoming season. Additionally, we get a sneak peek at Joe Pantoliano as Eugene, a character whose existence was merely hinted at in the game.
Right now, a live stream of The Last of Us Season 2 panel is happening at SXSW. Actors Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, along with newcomers Young Mazino, Isabela Merced, and Kaitlyn Dever are present. According to HBO’s EVP Francesa Orsi, the drama series “The Last of Us” will likely span four seasons. Though the storyline derived from “The Last of Us Part 2” may require more seasons, Neil Druckmann has raised questions about Naughty Dog and Sony possibly producing a third installment of “The Last of Us.
The Last of Us Season 2 will hit HBO and Max on Sunday, April 13.
