The Last of Us S2 Ep6 Trailer Teases Tear-Jerking Joel & Ellie Space Flashback

In the sixth episode of The Last of Us Season 2, Pedro Pascal reprises his role as Joel, and judging by the preview, there’s an especially poignant interaction between him and Ellie that is reminiscent of their relationship in the video game.

In Episode 5, the facade that Ellie had been maintaining slipped away. Upon discovering Nora at Lakehill Hospital, she persistently pursued Nora into a basement contaminated with spores, pressing her for details regarding Abby.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, I found myself at a crossroads where compromise seemed impossible – Nora rejected my plea. Desperate and driven by raw emotion, I resorted to drastic actions. Reaching for a nearby pipe, I began to strike out in a frenzy, screaming as the scene abruptly faded to darkness… only to reappear moments later, transporting me back to a blissful past, where Joel gently roused me from sleep with his familiar, tender voice, “Hey, kiddo.

Next week’s episode is set up to be something extraordinary, as it will be directed by Neil Druckmann, and it will feature a pivotal flashback scene reminiscent of The Last of Us Part 2. Be advised, there may be minor spoilers from the game ahead…

Joel and Ellie ‘go to space’ in The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 6

In the debut trailer for the sixth episode of The Last of Us Season 2, it’s revealed that the storyline will primarily revolve around characters Joel and Ellie. Moreover, there are brief instances hinting at a significant scene from Part 2 – where Joel accompanies Ellie to the Wyoming Museum of Science and History to celebrate her 16th birthday.

In the initial version of the game, there’s an interactive flashback sequence where we join the pair on their journey through the woods, en route to the museum as a surprise for Ellie. A sneak peek at the upcoming episode’s trailer also hints at Ellie standing atop a dinosaur, which is exactly what happens in the game itself.

As the flashback nears its conclusion, Joel and Ellie find themselves inside a spaceship. It’s there that Joel hands Ellie a last gift – a cassette tape containing a recording of the Apollo 11 spacecraft lift-off.

In Episode 6, we’re likely to witness a deeply moving, affectionate moment between the two characters, and it seems that the directors plan to recreate this sequence quite faithfully scene by scene.

“This episode is going to have me in tears the whole time! I’m really looking forward to the museum scene,” one viewer remarked. “I can hardly wait for the flashbacks and the emotional museum visit, hoping he’ll ask ‘Did I do okay?’ – I’ve got my tissues ready!” another said.

In an interview before Season 2’s premiere, Druckmann shared with Variety: “Episode 6 is particularly significant because it delves deeply into the essence of our series, focusing on characters we hold dear… viewers who enjoy the show and those who are fans of the games will find themselves deeply touched [by it].

Fellow scribe Halley Gross remarked: “I believe there’s something exceptionally unique about [Episode 6]. To me, six tells a truly stunning tale, and I feel honored to have contributed to its creation.
