This story contains spoilers for HBO’s The Last of Us.
In this week’s episode of The Last of Us, marking the first installment since Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) met his untimely end in Episode 2, HBO subtly introduced a poignant twist at the beginning of Episode 3 that some viewers might have overlooked.
Originally, the opening scene displayed both me and Ellie together, side by side. However, following the ruthless act that took my character’s life at the hands of Abby, I’ve vanished from those slides. Now, it’s just Ellie standing solo.
A rather subtle shift may have been overlooked by numerous spectators, given that many choose to bypass the opening credits with the press of the “skip” button.
