The Jump Ship demo is already grabbing the spotlight, and Steam Next Fest June 2025 hasn’t even officially kicked off yet

As people were engrossed in playing Deltarune or previewing Stellar Blade on their PCs before the official launch, another demo managed to grab the spotlight behind the scenes. Following a few rounds of beta testing, Jump Ship was officially made available to all on June 2nd, and since then, a steady stream of new players has been joining in.

Jump Ship is taking off

Today, the “Jump Ship” demo achieved a fresh record, as it simultaneously hosted close to 7,000 players on Steam. It’s not entirely unexpected, given that most of the responses received have been overwhelmingly positive so far.

Ship combat is awesome. FPS combat is great. Movement is fun. All around a good game

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thoroughly enjoying this demo with its polished touch. Can’t wait to get my hands on the complete version! Wishing for a tad more exhilarating speed sensation while piloting the ship and enhanced dodge/evasion mechanics to make the experience even better. So far, I’m quite impressed!

As an avid gamer, I must say this game is truly outstanding, particularly its PVE-only feature. However, I find myself struggling to locate a matchmaking system that suits me, perhaps due to my current social gaming status. If a real-time player matching system isn’t in the works anytime soon, I’d be more than happy with additional ‘friendly AI companions.’ These companions could not only provide camaraderie but also perform useful functions like repairing equipment and refilling ammo, features that would undoubtedly enhance my gaming experience.

Indeed, not every player is completely satisfied. Some have mentioned that the game could benefit from improved optimization and a more balanced solo mode. However, the majority of criticism has been directed towards the development team at Keepsake Games for incorporating AI during the development process. It’s important to clarify that they utilized AI solely for voice lines, and they’ve assured us that these will be swapped out with real voice actors as the game approaches release.

If you haven’t had a chance to explore it yet, now would be the perfect moment! The demo of “Jump Ship” is only accessible until June 16th, which is when Steam Next Fest comes to an end. Regarding its full release, we anticipate that the game will become available on Early Access sometime this summer.
