‘The Irrational’ Season 2 Premiere Date Shifts Due to Vice Presidential Debate

As a cinephile with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the delay of “The Irrational” Season 2 is a bit irksome, but alas, politics and prime-time television often dance a tangled waltz. The vice presidential debate on Oct. 1 seems to have claimed the coveted slot, pushing our favorite show into the arms of Oct. 8. But fear not, my fellow enthusiasts! The Voice will be there to serenade us beforehand, and I for one am always ready to listen to some good old-fashioned talent competition.

“The Irrational” Season 2 will no longer premiere on Oct. 1 as planned.

Due to the upcoming vice presidential debate between Minnesota governor Tim Walz and Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), set for October 1st, NBC has moved the premiere date of “The Irrational’s” second season to one week later, on October 8th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. This will be followed by a two-hour episode of “The Voice.” Previously, it was announced that the first debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump would take place on September 10th.

“The series titled ‘The Irrational’ premiered on NBC in September 2023 to strong viewership figures, prompting a second season order in November alongside the new show ‘Found’, starring Shanola Hampton. The show is headlined by Jesse L. Martin and features Maahra Hill, Travina Springer, Molly Kunz, and Arash DeMaxi.”

According to the series overview, the story centers around the character of Alec Mercer, a well-known behavioral science professor, who uses his exceptional skills to tackle challenging cases and puzzles. His innovative perspective on human behavior allows him to collaborate with diverse clients such as the FBI and ordinary individuals grappling with complex situations that need answers. With the assistance of his reliable team and social-science experiments, Alec resolves crimes, unveils secrets, and provides insight into intriguing and seemingly illogical questions.

As a movie enthusiast, I must share that this captivating series was ingeniously crafted from the thought-provoking book “Predictably Irrational” by Dan Ariely. Arika Lisanne Mittman masterfully brought it to life for television, serving as an executive producer alongside Mark Goffman, Sam Baum, David Frankel, and Robert Wolfe. The production house responsible is Universal Television.
