The Hive Studio Opens New Branch in Greece to Boost Its Mediterranean Presence

Known for its work on the Oscar-nominated short “Letter to a Pig” by Tal Kantor, The Hive Studio – a respected animation studio – has now opened a new branch in Greece, named The Hive Greece. This venture is a collaboration with Animasyros Productions from Athens and aims at fostering animation talent from the Southern Mediterranean region while boosting cross-European cooperation in animation production.

This partnership signifies a strategic step to strengthen the global influence of the Greek animation industry. Notably, Animasyros Productions, renowned for hosting Greece’s largest animation film festival, the Animasyros International Animation Festival, aligns with The Hive’s ambition to foster creative collaboration and pioneering ideas in storytelling.

Previously, Hive Studio collaborated with Animasyros on a number of significant productions, such as the short movie “P,” directed by Stelios Koupetoris and jointly produced with the Greek Film Center. This film has recently received the ASIFA-Hellas Award for Outstanding Screenplay and has been showcased in various global film festivals.

Amit Russell Gicelter, head of The Hive Studio, shared his eagerness about their upcoming project with the Greek industry in a statement: “I’m genuinely thrilled to be working alongside the Greek industry. Over the last few months, we’ve been creating, manufacturing, and partnering together. It seems like a genuine and significant progression for our company. I can hardly wait to discover what potential lies ahead.

Beyond just producing content, The Hive Greece plans to provide animation training programs to foster new skills, starting with an expert Toon Boom workshop. Additionally, the branch aims to capitalize on Greece’s 40% rebate for foreign investments to attract collaborations with European animation studios.

As a film enthusiast, I’m proud to be part of The Hive Studio, a dynamic and globally recognized creative powerhouse that was established in 2010. Over the years, we’ve produced award-winning animations that span various genres and platforms. Our recent expansion into Greece is a testament to our dedication to global storytelling and artistic collaboration, making us an even stronger force in the animation industry.
