Global Music Supervisors: Let’s collaborate and help us acquire Taylor Swift’s album, “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)“. In the May 19 episode of The Handmaid’s Tale, an impactful scene featuring “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” was used, even though it hasn’t been officially released yet. This particular song was instrumental in a sequence where handmaid Offred/June (Elisabeth Moss) led a group of handmaids to an escape car, followed by explosions; after a title card, we saw Serena (Yvonne Strahovski), holding her baby Noah, running through the woods after leaving Commander Wharton (Josh Charles). The song played for approximately two verses and two choruses before it ended, just short of hearing the modern-day Swift sing, “Sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh … because she’s dead!” While this editing decision was suitable for the show due to the spoken-word section, we’re curious about when we’ll get to hear that rerecorded bridge.

For quite some time, I’ve been eager to incorporate a Taylor Swift song into our series, and we’ve finally found the ideal opportunity for one of her tracks. I’m overjoyed that we waited, as there couldn’t be a more fitting song for such a significant moment in the final episodes, Moss shared with Billboard on May 20th. Taylor has been an immense source of inspiration to me personally, and I believe I can speak for Yvonne and our entire cast when I say this – it’s an absolute honor to use her music in our final episodes. As a devoted Swiftie myself, I want to express my gratitude to Taylor for acknowledging us during the Golden Globes red carpet in 2019, as she said, “Hey, it’s Taylor. I just wanted to do this video as a shout-out to Elisabeth and say thank you so much for saying in an interview that you listen to my music when you’re shooting Handmaid’s Tale, because I’m a huge fan. I’m obsessed with the show.
The second song from Taylor Swift’s re-recorded album “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” has made an appearance on a TV show, even though there’s no set release date for the album yet. The first track to do so was “Delicate (Taylor’s Version)”, which featured in episode six of season three of Amazon Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty”. It’s possible that the finale of “The Last of Us” might include “I Did Something Bad.
