Lego is continuing to draw inspiration from popular ’80s films, and their next project is based on the classic adventure movie, The Goonies. Fans will soon be able to build a detailed replica of the Inferno pirate ship from the film with a new 2,912-piece Lego set, available starting November 4th for $330. Those enrolled in the free Lego Insiders program can pre-order the set starting November 1st. Plus, Lego Insiders who pre-order between November 1st and 7th will receive a bonus Lego set – The Walsh’s Attic – while supplies last.
If you love ’80s movies, there are a lot of great Lego sets available now. One of the newest and most fun is a Lego version of Gizmo, the cute Mogwai from the ‘Gremlins’ films. This Lego Gizmo is fully poseable, with movable arms, hands, and fingers. It even comes with tiny 3D glasses and a face that shows expression! And unlike in the movie, you can safely ‘get him wet’ without any trouble.
Lego offers several sets based on popular ’80s movies and TV shows. Fans of Transformers can collect figures like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, along with the Decepticon Soundwave. Star Wars enthusiasts can build the massive Lego Death Star from ‘Return of the Jedi’, and Back to the Future fans will love the DeLorean Time Machine. A smaller, more adorable DeLorean kit is also coming next year, complementing the larger Lego Ideas version.
