Recently, the often overlooked chapter of “The Godfather” has found a fresh streaming platform. Currently, you can stream “The Godfather: Coda – The Death of Michael Corleone” on Paramount+.

Back in 1990, I found myself at a cinema, eagerly awaiting the premiere of The Godfather Part III. Unlike its predecessors, which were acclaimed as cinematic masterpieces, this third installment was met with some harsh criticism from critics. It was more of a standalone feature, disconnected from the larger narrative of the series. However, it also faced critique for not being able to fully function independently without viewers having prior knowledge of the first two films.

Regardless of the criticism it received, The Godfather Part III was a significant box office hit. During its initial release, it grossed more than $136.9 million against a production cost of under $55 million. In 2020, a new version of the movie known as “The Godfather Coda” was released and received wide praise. Critics considered this cut to have effectively validated the original film’s existence. To put it into perspective, “The Godfather Part III” currently has a 66% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 67 professional reviews, with its user-generated score being 69%. In contrast, “The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone” maintains an impressive 86% rating across both professional and user reviews.
