Billy Hudson, a popular figure from the retro gaming YouTube channel The Game Chasers, has passed away at the age of 44 after a battle with cancer.
Hudson started The Game Chasers, a YouTube channel focused on finding, collecting, and celebrating classic video games. The show became popular thanks to its funny, nostalgic content and the friendly connection between Hudson and his co-host, Jay.
Hudson passed away on Thursday, September 18th, after a battle with cancer, according to a post from his friend and fellow creator, Jay. Both Hudson’s family and his YouTube community are mourning, and Jay asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Billy Hudson dies from cancer
I’m sharing some very sad news with a heavy heart. This afternoon, Billy passed away after a long battle with cancer. We’re working on a video with more details, and we ask for your understanding and patience – please don’t ask for further information at this time. The family, including our YouTube community, is understandably heartbroken and needs time to grieve.
I hate to have to deliver this news.

We understand you have many questions right now. Please be patient and avoid bombarding those who knew Billy with inquiries – that includes me. We’re receiving a huge number of messages, calls, and texts, and it’s a lot to handle. Billy loved and appreciated all of you and the support you gave him.
Hudson passed away only a few weeks after receiving a brain tumor diagnosis in August 2025. Following the diagnosis, he announced a break from creating content on his YouTube channel.
